Lightbulb Book Recommendation for pre-teens and Teens alike!!

My 14yo ds and I were at the library earlier this week looking at some books ... this was in the catalog published by AAPC (www.asperger.net) ... and my son saw it and started reading it (now he is the one with ADHD ... but he's my social butterfly in the family) ... he asked me if I would buy the book because ALL KIDS COULD USE THIS!!

I just found it at the Half price Book Store today! Score! He really wanted the hardback book because he said he would use it a lot ... but for $10 he can get a new one if he really wears it out. lol

It's written like a "Dear Ann Landers" type of writing ... but the kids are writing to "Dear Alex" which will explain the reason things happen, how to do things (which way do you pass the plates at the table? why do you pass the salt & pepper if just asked for the salt?) ... examples of different types of invitations (informal sleepovers vs wedding, etc.), how to fill out those RSVP cards, how to dress for different types of events ... how to ask a girl out, how to tell him/her no ... just all kinds of things that kids would come across.

I think it would be good for any child that comes upon something new ... a reference written in a fun lighthearted way (what do you say when you're visiting someone and their dog sticks his nose in your crotch?) ...

All three of my boys (21, 16, and 14) were laughing at the chapter quiz on emoticons ... it was a hoot!

It's a great book to have sitting around for your teenagers to refer to ... and you never know ... you may just be surprised at how it may help smooth things out around the house (yes there are a few references on how to get your way by being extremely nice to your parents)... LOL
