Just got two of these Planetbox lunchboxes for my kids.
![]() They're eco friendly and lead, vinyl/PVC, Phthalates, and Bisphenol-A(BPA) free. I am hoping that they encourage my kids to eat better at school. Getting my son to eat is a struggle and I am trying to make it more fun. Hopefully, this cool new lunchbox will be an inspiration. Sort of like a Bento concept. Anyway, just thought I would share. Anyone else here do Bento lunches? Does it work to get the kids interested? Susan

This may be a weird question (or a dumb one) but how do you keep things cold in those types of lunch boxes!?!?! My kids leave the house at 8AM and don't eat till noon and 12:30PM, on the rare occasion they pack I use an insulated bag and like 4 ice pack each and sometimes there stuff is still getting close to "warm" by lunch time*eek*

That's so cool! I've really been considering getting bento boxes just to make lunch more fun for my DD but may do this instead...thanks for the link!

We have a Laptop Lunch box for my DD. I like it because I can tell how much she ate at lunch every day. I haven't done any fun bento-type things for her yet. Mornings are pretty rushed around here on her preschool days.

How can I keep my food cold?I ordered the lunch box with the carrying bag which has an interior mesh pouch....and you can definitely fit a couple cold packs in the bag which would put them right up snug next to the steel lunch box. I imagine that would keep it plenty cold. They have a picture of it: ![]()

That is a neat lunchbox but that picture above seems like ALOT of food!! I doubt I could eat half of that LOL.
When my daughter was in pre-k I would pack her lunch everyday with what she asked for and she would not eat it. She was eating lunch so close to breakfast and would come home STARVING at her normal lunchtime and then would not want to eat dinner at 5:00-6:00. So I figured out that she should have a smaller breakfast and that way when lunch rolled around at 10:00ish she would want to eat then I gave her a snack when she got home and at dinner she would be hungry enough to eat. It wasnt so much what I was offering her but when it was offered that was the problem. She would eat pretty much anything when she was hungry but when she wasnt even if it was something she specifially asked me to make her she just wouldnt eat. |

Cool! My kiddo is too young for this, but I totally see doing this for my hubby. Now I use a Rubbermaid container that has dividers, but it's still way too much food that he should be eating.

I've been debating about those PlanetBox things for a couple weeks now. They seem like they might be big and heavy?

That looks really neat! It's out of our price range (LOL, almost everything is at this point)...but I'm bookmarking for future reference.

for some reason, I want that for myself. I have a huge fascination with divided containers
![]() eta: I love that it is not plastic.

That still sounds heavy to me -- certainly heavier than most lunch boxes. I'm going to have to go home and find something that weighs around 19 oz. We must have a HP book around somewhere . . .

19oz is just barely over a pound. I hope your kids can lift one pound. If not, you clearly aren't sending them to the other fridge to grab a gallon of milk often enough (which, btw, weighs 8lbs).

I would buy those just to have in the house, lol! And ditto to what Mimi said...I would def. use them myself.
I wonder if the kids would ate more healthy foods if it was arranged this way? I've been thinking about this a lot since watching all of Jamie Oliver's Food Rev. episodes. |

I think its super cute, and the weight would not be the issue. I'm just not certain I see a difference between these and a lunch bag. Besides the much bigger price.

I'm still every enamored with this PlanetBox. And I'm going to keep bumping this thread.
![]() I showed my son the PlanetBox and now everyday he asks me if I ordered them yet. Alas, this is an expense that will have to wait for the time being.

I love these!! My kids LOVE bento boxes. We had issues with my youngest DD not eating (thanks to a medicine she was taking) and the bentos helped a little. The food was fun and that made it more appealing to her.

We have a diff. bento, but i think it does help when you plan their lunches. Ours have just 4 spots, so i ALWAYS do a fruit, veg, sandwich (typically), & then snack (granola bar, animal crackers, etc) + their water bottles.
