Now that we all know each others very worst jobs... what job have you had that you would call your favorite, or the best one you've had?
My best/worst job were the same job. I was training for a manager at Second Cup (same thing as a Starbucks)... I seriously loved my job. My favorite smell in the whole world is fresh ground coffee beans. I can't go into a Starbucks anymore without all these flashbacks of my job, lol. When I first started, I would go to work totally excited about my day. I loved making the drinks, doing the barista thing. Even stocking the shelves. I loved the girls I worked with - we had a lot of fun. And since it was in a mall, we had a lot of regulars who I got to know quite well. It was just an all out, fun job! My second favorite was working in a chocolate shoppe called Purdy's. I worked behind the counters and filled custom boxes w/ chocolates, dipped ice cream bars, and helped work a kiosk at Easter time. Did I mention that one of the perks was that we could eat chocolate all day? Within reason of course ![]()

If we're talking paying jobs (because mommyhood is the best job IMO), I'd have to say I was happiest when I was working in the library. Reading to the classes and helping them discover new things was just flat-out fun for my bookwormy self.
I also enjoyed teaching (most of the time anyway)...and watching a little kid's face the first time they read is an amazing thing.

My best job was actually my first job when I was 16. I worked as an AT&T Long Distance Operator. I thought it was totally cool to get paid for talking on the phone and earning $250 dollars a week, when my friends were flipping burgers for $5.00 an hour. This was before automation and desktop computers as we know it (aging myself lol). Anyway, I was downsized because I could only do part time during my senior year in high school so I had to move on. Kind of glad I did since it has all changed and that job no longer exists.

It's a tie between two different Optometrist's offices I worked at. The first one I worked at during summers in college and they had a job waiting for me once I graduated. I worked there for a year after I graduated. Then I got married and moved an hour away and a few years later I started working at another Optometrist's office. Both were awesome places to work. The docs took good care of the employees! Gotta love that.

The job I have now! It's volunteer, but it's so much fun. I work with foreign exchange students, and I love it. It helps me learn more about many cultures, hone my design skills, and more. It's a great job that I love dearly!

My current one.
I studied translation, and I work as a translator. I never wanted to freelance, because I want to be surrounded by people and have a daily schedule of some sorts (otherwise I'd turn into a social phobe with no daily routine whatsoever), and that's rare with translators. But I do have it, as I'm an in-house translator. I have a soft spot for civil service, and I'm a civil servant. And I have a very good salary to top it all (which is not that common in Slovakia. Actually it's quite uncommon. Civil service means crap salary and that's what I used to have when I worked for our Government Office). And I live in a most charming little country thanks to my job. So there. I have to say I liked my previous job, too - it was similar to my current one, except we did more revisions than translations, and we had crap salary. Still, in terms of people THAT was my best job.

I have to say the Navy has been my worst and best job ever!!! Simply because I have learned so many different skills, they paid for me to got to laboratory technician school, gave me 2 bonuses throughout my career {for being a tech}...I will retire at 40 and have a paycheck until the day I die....I have met the BEST friends in the world, not to mention my husband....and if it weren't for the Navy I probably wouldn't have the FABULOUS house I have today....Plus I have seen places in the world that only people can dream of...Rome, Sicily, London, Paris, and Kuwait ...even though Kuwait was sand and rocks and heat, I still met some GREAT people there and wouldn't change it for the world!{for just a few}

thats a hard one. i havent had fancy jobs. i guess one of my most fun jobs (once i learned my way around) had to be pizza delivery driver lol. i had that job for a small locally owned place in Killeen, TX when Chad was in the army stationed at Ft. Hood. at first, it was intimidating because i didnt know my way around. but once i learned all the litte shortcuts it was fun. 90% of the orders were regulars and mostly soldiers in the barracks. i got some good tips hehe. i guess they liked 21 year old girls bringing them their pizza lmao.

My favourite job was being an Army Medic. I so completely loved it, challenges and all. I got to travel the world, help people less fortunate than myself, keep fit, become independent, feel like I really made a difference, and meet some amazing people. It was also the most challenging and demanding job I had, but I loved it. I served for 15 years, and still miss it. Oh, and I met my husband in that job too.

I worked at a car dealership as a secretary in the finance department. It doesn't sound special at all, but I loved my job. The bad part was, the money wasn't great and so I got lured away by another place in the industry (a lending institution). That didn't work out for me in the long run (loooong commute). I wish I hadn't been lured away by more money, because I walked away from a job I really enjoyed.

I love my current job (it's where I met my husband!), but I *really* loved the people that I worked with in retail. When you're doing complete store overhauls at 2am, it tends to bring you closer together, lol. I went from sales associate to cashier, to lead cashier (counting out 14 registers a night), to women's merchandising specialist (which meant I got to hide in the back and ignore the rude customers
![]() I will *never* go back to retail (knock on wood), but I loved the people I worked with. I had a fabulous few years at the Gap Outlet. Man, those were the care free days ![]()

I worked at Putt-Putt for 3 summers in high school and college. Oh, how I loved it.
Everyone was my age, including a couple cute boys, and we had so much fun hanging out with one another. We got to choose our own hours (I only worked night shift), got free tokens & mini-golf & drinks, were mostly left on our own so often gave our friends or family free stuff, too, and everyone from HS came by at least once during the summer. I worked five nights a week, and the other two days, I was either at Putt-Putt hanging out and waiting for my friends to get off work so we could go hit our fave 24 hour diner or hanging out elsewhere with my Putt-Putt coworkers. Sigh. One summer in particular was still the best summer of my life to date. ![]() |

I'm luck to have enjoyed every job I've ever had. My best teenage job was as a gymnastics coach. I coached in a Community program, so it wasn't high stress. I just went to the gym for a few hours every afternoon and helped a bunch of little girls learn their flips and tricks. It was the best! And, I got paid $6.00 an hour, which was really good back them. Minimum wage was $3.25 I think, and I got paid WAY better than any of my friends.
My jobs as an adult were all editorial positions and I loved them all. Crazy me - I really like worrying about leading and kerning and stuff like that. My last job before I became a SAHM mom was so interesting though. I was the Production Editor for Meteoritics & Planetary Science. It is one of the top publications for that particular field, and I got to interact with the most interesting people, like the scientists that launched the Mars Rovers and a Jesuit Priest who runs the Vatican's large Meteorite collection. I didn't understand half of what was published in that journal, but I loved meeting and talking to such interesting people.

I'm pretty sure the job I loved most was working on my aunt/uncles ranch while I lived with them my Sr. year in HS. No pay. But made my soul happy & would LOVE to work on one again SOON (aside from being a SAHM)
The only other jobs I've had, other than the McD's job, was at a bank, while I was good at it & excelled/promoted very well, it wasn't my favorite.

I have two... both on the same team, but different points in my career...
1. When I was a software trainer... I would travel mill to mill teaching the mill folks how to use computers and the new software systems. At times it was tough because they didn't want to learn how to use computers, but those working on graveyard are some of the best people I've ever met. You have to be a rare person to want to work that shift... and those people had fun!!! However spent 4-6 weeks away from home at a time. 2. When I came back to the training team (from my worst job), then I had kiddo and worked part time... I carved a sweet position for me where I was Resource Manager... I scoped out new projects and assigned team members to them based on availably. I bawled like a baby when I left to stay home with kiddo... I loved that job!!!

Scrapbooking! I worked for QuicKutz as an in-house designer. The office was 5 minutes from my home, I did 90% of my work at home, I got to scrapbook and get paid, the staff was AMAZING, and they were very nice to me. It was so great while it lasted (2 years)!

Again, I'ved like most of my jobs, but I loved my career as a Computer Analyst at an electric utility - great pay, great benefits - for 15 years. I had to quit when I had the twins.
I also loved working for Creating Keepsakes Magazine and getting so much free stuff from them and all my other design teams. ![]() |

I loved being a vote counter in our national election - come in at about 6.30pm and you finish when ever the last vote is counted, I remember that year it only took us about an hour and a half so the $90 pay was pretty good.

I love my current job. My title is Web Director but the job really isn't as serious as that sounds. I design and update websites for a design/print service in the cattle industry. I also help out with ads, email blasts and logo when needed. I love being able to work from home and setting my own hours.
I sometimes miss designing but this job is perfect for me now.

Paying job - Working two days a week for my parents doing office work. My parents are bad with keeping up with the paperwork that their business does on a weekly basic's and my mom was horrible at being a "paper pusher". Now everything is more organized and I even helped my dad save some money by changing how some things were done (taking out steps that were not necessary). Not to mention I get about $100 a week for 6 hours of work (3 hours a day).
Non paying job - being a mom. ![]()
