Question lol, writing letters to santa

So, I told my girls last night, that we're going to write letters to Santa today after school. They were so excited! Well, this morning when we were getting them ready for school they kept asking when we were gonna do it, I told them as soon as they get home from school - and Cait gave a big whoop and hollers 'I'm gonna write the letter N for Santa, cuz that's the letter we're learning this week!!!' LOL, my girls apparently have no idea what a written letter is... Duh, I didn't even realize. We've never written anyone a letter before, and they never see me write more than a little note here and there. So I had to explain that we're writing a 'note' to Santa, and we'll mail it to the North Pole, in an envelope with a stamp, and that's what a letter to Santa is.

*sigh* Growing up in an electronic age...

And I forgot to ask my question... lol. To anyone who has mailed letters to Santa, do you put an address on it, or just to Santa at the North Pole?

LOL! We're doing this on Saturday and they write a letter there and the elves take it to Santa and he knows their names and what they want when they go in to see him. It's pretty neat, actually.

I hadn't thought to do it with my kids this year but here in Canada, Canada Post has a Santa Letter-writing program, where the address is NORTH POLE H0H 0H0

I may just be writing letters with the kiddos tonight!! ~ thanks for the idea!!

we are writing our letters to Santa today as well, and we send them to Santa care of Canada Post. Usually, they all the same "generated" letter back from Santa, but they don't seem to care. I have every letter saved in their albums, with a copy of the letter they sent Santa.

Hm, I'm not sure if there's a Macy's around here or not - I know of one almost an hour away... I might just make a trip to the po and let them drop the letters into the big blue box out front! lol I mailed a package once, and they were fascinated with it - so I had to explain that when you drop it in, someone picks it up for you and takes it right to the person you're sending it to, I think they'd even get a kick out of that, mailing their own letter. They are definately easily amused LOL.

That is so cool that some of you get letters back from santa!! I know a girl who makes some up and mails them out, I may have her do some for me, the girls would love that I think.

We take ours to Macy's. I write the kids back on special Santa paper and thankfully Santa is so busy that he types the letters. he,he This year my youngest discovered the Santa secret so she just wrote me a note with what she's wishing for...LOL! Nothing like going to the source of the shopping. Smart girl!

i remember that we used to write them and address them. and my mother would always take them and put them in the mailbox on the side of the house and.. we'd end up with a letter back. in "santa's" handwriting. i don't know if she ever mailed them anywhere.

i LOVE that canada does the santa letter program though. i think it's adorable.
