Marriage question
My dictionary doesn't give me the answer.
At a wedding you need one or two witnesses.....you have the best man, but how's a woman called? I can almost hear it....but it's not in my head right now. Can anyone give me the answer?

The maid of honor is a bridesmaid, but she's the head one..and the one that will sign for you as your witness. Bridesmaids are anyone you have standing up with you, just as the groomsmen stand with the groom, but the Best Man is the head one.

No, you explained well!
I just thought it was something different. Here in Holland you can also ask your mother to stand up for you. It seems a bit strange to name her bridesmaid....that's all! I think I will go for another title for my layout. Problem solved. Hahaha
