Ready to cry...

just started my Portfolio for April. This is my first time participating. So I go to scraplift a wonderful LO from the treat of the Month.

And about 3/4 of the way through creating this LO I went to close an element and instead closed my LO. Its gone.

I know its my fault. I turned off the auto save because it was always interrupting me when i was scrapping. I forgot to save the LO manually.

NowI just have to go to bed and start again tomorrow cause if i even try now I am going to get erally frustrated.

I know you've been there.

Oh no!! I've done that more times than I would like to confess too! What also gets me is when I'm all done and haven't saved once - go to save and photoshop crashes!! UGH! Sometimes the layout is better the second time around... sometimes not...

Yep, just happened last week when all I had left to do was add a date and PS crashed!!! Start fresh tomorrow and you'll be fine

You mean there's an auto save feature? In photoshop? Oh I so need to find out how to activate that. I've closed layouts by accident too.

Photoshop doesn't have one, but Paint Shop does. There are pay plug ins you can get from PS though--I saw something about them the other night when my computer crashed and I lost some photo edits I was doing.

Ugh, that's happened to me several times! What kills me is if I haven't saved PS prompts me to before closing the window but because I'm not aware it's the LAYOUT i'm closing I go choose NO. *facepalm*

I think accidentally closing an unsaved LO is the first time I learned to understand more fully the blank stare.

I'm almost sure my face actually does look like:

(the last one being closer to the thought in my head that's like..eyetwitch. eyetwitch.)

This is what I do all the time. I'm the type of person who forgets to save the LO, save it AT ALL, meaning I sometimes find myself with Untitled-1.psd after two hours of work... and yes, sometimes I close it incidentally and pffft, it's gone... And no, I didn't learn any lessons, I still do it. :-)

From experience I can tell it doesn't take long to recreate a LO if you do it within one day.

I have done that, and also had PS crash with no warning or errors. So now, I save every couple of elements or moves. It's a habit I have now, because I lost so many layouts!

Twice yesterday, PSE crashed while I was in the middle of the same layout. I decided I wasn't meant to make that layout.

sorry not sure about PS.. I use PSP.

I have signed up for a beginner class for PSE starting April 11 at LVS.

I have been using PSP for almost 10 years... its kinda a scary thing to change over. But the actions call to me....

I have done it a few times, and I still haven't learned, because I rarely save in the middle of a layout, unless I am going to leave my computer in the middle of making it.

I've had THIS happen to me more often than I can say. I'd say, turn the autosave back on. I think I might do that, if I could remember how. These days I immediately go in and save the (copied) template under the name I want. It's almost automatic now, hitting that control-save combo of keys.

If it helps any, it sounds like all of us have done it at one time or another. Like you said, I'll bet the second one will be even better than the original!!
