I'm trying to turn my dining room into a work/den space for myself (love that my DH is letting me do this) and I really need to fill the completely empty wall space.
I want to try something like this... ![]() But I'm wondering if anyone has any idea where I could buy pieces like this that aren't PB prices? LOL... I'm on a non-existent budget. LOL! Or does anyone have any other wallart ideas for a large space?

Check out the gallery.
I think you could do something like that with the digi stuff. The hybrid challenge for the month is a DIY dry erase board...make something like this but apply the challenge to it so you can get points too!

they make corkboard squares..I wanna say they are around 12x12 (prob have other sizes) You could buy some cute fabric cheap and ahere with spray glue. You could leave the frame off that would probably be your biggest expense. Or try like vintage or thrift stores for an old nice frame. What about flooring tiles from like Home Depot? Individually I don't think they are that $$. Depends what you are going for..if you want cork for pushpins, magnet, dry erase..etc

I didn't even think about the corkboard squares. I know you can buy corkboard by the roll too.

I'm wondering if I could find small pegboard squares at Home Depot too... I think they would be cute painted!
Love the vintage or old frame idea too Meg... thanks!

Go to Goodwill and find a big huge painting/frame for cheeaaaaaaaaaaaaapp. Spray paint it white.
You can use foam-core covered in paper (wrapping paper would work and is cheap and pretty), or covered in fabric and just mount it behind the frame.

here is something they have at my craft store with the tutorial/shopping list called a Communication Board Project I've seen it in the large frame like you've shown, but I've also seen it in a bunch of 12"x12" frames or 10"x10" frames. I like it better in the individual frames, so here is an example of that too.

Or you could just buy some moulding, cut it at 45 degrees and make your own frame.
Or a thrift store. Check out this tutorial. She links to the first time she did it with foam board (cheaper than cork), or you can use the sheet metal so you don't have to poke holes in your pretty scrapbook paper, etc.

My Lowe's carries Day eraser paint (like the chalkboard paint) that was really really cheap and I thought it was a great idea. They had a big sample display and it really did work great!!! I think the kit was like $30 bucks and covered 6 square feet!!!

I've seen quite a few DIY bulletin boards made out of Homasote like this. I've never used it but I think you can paint it or cover it with fabric.
If you wanted to include dry erase/chalkboard squares, RustOleum carries a bunch of specialty paints - chalkboard, dry erase, magnetic, etc. (I'm sure other brands do as well.) Then you could just add fabric for the other squares to add a pop of color. As far as the frame, I'd probably use some kind of molding (like a door trim) cut to the size I needed. If you went with something simple I don't think it'd be that expensive. Hmm, now that I've written it all out, I kind of want to try it... ![]() |

Yes trim is fairly cheap, we just bought a 13 foot section of chair rail for $6 bucks at Lowes and the other basic trims were even cheaper!!! Some as low ae $2 bucks for 12 to 14 foot!!!!
