So give me some ADD/ADHD medicine success stories

As the hubs and I both had negative experiences on Ritalin I don't need negative/failure stories. I've seen it work wonders for my younger brother (he's been on Adderall XR for several years), but I want to hear some other positive stories. We tried changing Ryan's diet and it's helped some, but even with that it seems to be getting less effective, and we're at the point where we're seriously considering getting him tested, but at the same time it's something we've always said we wouldn't do.
So yeah... anyone got any success stories with the medicines they can share? Or any additional tips of things we can try?
