Default Homemade Baby Food

Over the past few months I've been buying bags of frozen veggies and this afternoon I'd like to make my first batch of food.
But I have a few questions maybe someone could answer.

I figured I would just put the veggies in a saucepan, with about 1/2 cup of water, let them cook through and then blend them up in either my mini food processor or magic bullet.

Here's my questions.
I'm going to make up a few mini gladware containers and put in the fridge but do I just take the leftover, put it in my ice cube trays to freeze and then thaw them as needed? Would this be the best way to do them?

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

That's what I figured but you know I'm not much of a cooker...lol.

When I cook, it's amazing! I'm not gonna lie. It's in my blood. I just don't cook because I hate touching raw meat.

It's like a side show when I cook because I have to get gloves to touch the meat. I have no problems with changing disgusting nasty baby diapers or dealing with baby puke but I gag at raw meat. ESPECIALLY CHICKEN!

But I've been trying to cook more and more because of K.

Holly, I am the same way. I hate hate hate touching raw meat. I can touch pretty much anything else, and I can make a lot of really great food. But I hate touching meat.

Blood, guts, poop, everything, I can see and interact with and have no problem. But raw meat? Yuck.

I cook meat all the time and never touch it raw!!

You can also cook food in the microwave. I have an AWESOME baby food making book that says why it's just fine to cook in the microwave. And then we always just fill ice cube trays and once it's frozen, stick it in a gallon sized bag (labeled and dated) and make something else so we always have a nice stash in the freezer. You can also combine a lot of things (once baby is used to one at a time). It's cool, and fun. I actually look forward to it in a few months!

one of my "housewarming" gifts last summer was a box of vinyl gloves. cause i refuse to touch raw meat. (: you're not the only one.

my aunt did all her own baby food. she wanted to "control" what went into her daughter's mouth. she didn't do the ice cube thing, but she froze everything in freezer bags and thawed it as needed. the ice cube tray is a good system, though.

I didn't even think about storing in freezer bags after the froze. DUH!

What's the name of that baby food "cookbook" you have? I've been looking for a good one to have on hand.

Yup, this is the easiest, from what I've heard. Freeze them in the cubes, and once the cubes are solid, put them into a freezer bag with the food name and the date it was made (so you always rotate your stock-- first in, first out).

I used this website a LOT when Blake was a baby (they changed their look a little bit) Lots of different recipes and ideas. I can't wait to make sweet potatoes for my new little baby - granted it's going to be a while before we start solids...he has to be born first! lol

Lol
I bought some sweet potatoes for Kennedy before I decided to make food and she LOVED them. And last week I did one of the mixes with sweet potatoes and corn (from gerber I think) and she loved it too.

So I can't wait to make sweet potatoes.
