Default Creative Team Disclaimer for blog

Can you link me up to your blog so I can snag yours (if you don't mind) or somewhere to find a good disclaimer to use to post on my blog?

Yea, it is supposed to be included on your blog when you post layouts that you received free product for in exchange for "work" and bad me, I had never done it in the past but thought I would do it this time around on my new blog.

I just put a CT disclaimer in my sidebar...easier than having to add it to each post (LOL not that I post very often to my blog).

As a CT member, I receive free digital scrapbooking products in return for posting my layouts in the digital community. A list of my current creative teams can be found above in the 'Scrapping for' section above

This is the disclaimer I have up on my very neglected blog:

DISCLAIMER: As a CT member for the aforementioned designers, I have received their products for free in return for creating and posting projects (digital layouts, hybrids projects, etc). Most of the layouts you see here were done as requirements for these CTs, please be advised that the product used was indeed received for free. Any additional advertising that I may do for them or for the stores with which they are affiliated is purely out of my dedication to these designers and the wish to see their business succeed. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

I've never heard of that?? I mean who says you have to have this? Blogger? The designer? What's the point of it? I don't post a lot pages on my blog but I do post them all on FB....does that mean I should have a disclaimer there...it's basically the same thing?

What's it matter when posting pages whether you pay for the scrap stuff or got it for free?

i guess i see both sides. i've seen disclosure policies for other types of blogs (fashion, makeup, food, etc), but rarely have i ever seen them on scrapbooking blogs. however, you are getting products for free. do i have one on my blog? no. but if i was asked to put one up? i would.

if designers and stores want to enforce it, they should require it. but unless they do, then what's the point? i put links to the products i use, so people can find them. i feel that my links are enough. that's just my opinion.

It's actually required by the FTC (federal trade commission) now. The guidelines went into effect in 2009.

Here's the gist of it:

Quote:
The revised Guides also add new examples to illustrate the long standing principle that “material connections” (sometimes payments or free products) between advertisers and endorsers – connections that consumers would not expect – must be disclosed. These examples address what constitutes an endorsement when the message is conveyed by bloggers or other “word-of-mouth” marketers. The revised Guides specify that while decisions will be reached on a case-by-case basis, the post of a blogger who receives cash or in-kind payment to review a product is considered an endorsement. Thus, bloggers who make an endorsement must disclose the material connections they share with the seller of the product or service. Likewise, if a company refers in an advertisement to the findings of a research organization that conducted research sponsored by the company, the advertisement must disclose the connection between the advertiser and the research organization. And a paid endorsement – like any other advertisement – is deceptive if it makes false or misleading claims.
In essence, creative team members are endorsing/promoting and therefore they need to disclose that they received the products used for free.

Oh, it only applies to blogs, not facebook. Yet. I'm sure that's coming down the pike eventually.

I am just one of these who would rather just add the little blurb to the bottom of my blog and not have to worry that I have not done something I should have. I understand how silly it must seem but the little blurb makes no difference to me in the big scheme of things.

Well crap your quoted quote didn't quote

Thanks for that info Leu but I still feel that me posting a page on my personal blog is a pretty gray area considering that info. I'm not posting it there to try and sell that kit to anyone...I'm posting it so out of state family can see my kids.

Technically I'm not getting paid to post to my blog, most scrapping contracts I've "signed" state the only requirements I need to met to get the "free stuff" is to post to online galleries (and I have all those on file on my harddrive). So the line that read something to the effect of the blogger who gets cash or stuff as payment to review a product is considered an endorsement...I think is a fine line that I haven't crossed. I'm glad it's out there for blogs that do review free products consistently and I can understand now why people who feel like they need that disclaimer have it and if were to ever start heavily posting my pages to my blog I might consider "getting" one, but honestly I post them so rarely I just don't see the need (It's probably been 2+ years since I posted a page), now FB is another story.....I'm always pimping my girls on facebook!!!
