I placed 14 pics on my layout, only to decide I would rather them be sepia. Is there an easy way to do it? All I know to do is go back to the originals and make them all sepia, then replace them in the layout. Obviously, I'm hoping for a quicker method! FYI - I use CS5.

You don't have to edit and then replace them, you can do it right on your layout. I would save my edit as a style and then hit all of them with it. KWIM?

I would just use hue/saturation (ctrl u) on one of the images and get it to something you like by selecting the colorize box on the lower right and starting with settings 52/15/0. Then you can just highlight each layer and replicate (shift ctrl u). HTH!

I have to do this sometimes also - I decide I want to run photo actions to all my pics after I put them on the page...
WHat i do is apply all edits as new layers. I get the style worked out exactly as I want it, then I clip it down to the photos. You might have to replicate the layer a bunch of times, but it sill gives you the ability to tweak/un-do the edit and it's not that hard to do. If you haven't done your edits this way, you use the "new fill or adjustment layer" button at the bottom. make all of your adjustments on that layer (you'll see your entire layout being changed, but don't worry!). They you just create a clipping mask to apply it only to a photo. does that help? |

Ok, so I changed the one image as you suggested and then saved those values as a preset. I am able to go to the next image and use the same preset, but should I be able to do more than one layer at a time? I did try shift, cmd, u but that changed the image to b/w instead of sepia.

Unfortunately, you have to apply it to each layer. You can't apply it to multiple layers at a time. When I've used shft cmd u it automatically brings up the same settings I used on the previous instance, but it probably resets if you select multiple layers. I don't have my program in front of me, so I can't test it.

This still isn't a really quick way but you could add a filter to each layer. Image>Adjustments>Photo Filter and choose the one that gives the effect you want. It might not be a true sepia but it will tint your photo. Then just repeat on the other layers.
