Today, Amazon has a pre-order of Kristin Hannah's new short story available for free on the Kindle. You can pre-order for free today, and it'll be automatically delivered to your Kindle when it comes available on 11/11/11.

I'm not sure how long this offer lasts, but I would imagine that it'll be full-price once it's released.

Download the Kindle app for your phone. You can read it on there, too. Or the cloud reader and read it on your computer.
