Default Dec 13- QotD- Do you leave out milk and cookies for Santa?

Do you leave milk and cookies (or something) out for Santa? Also, do you leave out goodies for the reindeer?

We do! Well, at least we did in the past years before Logan started doubting. But at our house, Santa gets eggnog with nugmeg sprinkles because that is what Logan likes best. The reindeer always get some cereal on a paper plate too. We leave it in the middle of the lawn because my husband draws the line and says he won't go on the rooftop and they can just come down if they are hungry. LOL

So what is your tradition?

We've always left some cookies & milk for Santa, and a carrot (or some veggie) for the reindeer. That's Ben's favorite thing about Christmas morning. He is so astounded that there are only crumbs and bits left over.

And I love it that it never occurs to a child that the minute he nods off his dad and mom are munching away.

This year I was considering not doing this because we are struggling with Santa overshadowing Jesus. We don't leave cookies for Jesus... and He is more real than Santa in our minds. I guess I'm dreading telling him Santa is NOT real when we've built up in so many ways that he IS. *sigh*

We did once or twice when the boys were younger. We never made a huge deal out of Santa, though.

we've always said that Santa is like the mailman. He delivers the gifts, but the gift giver is Jesus. I know that sounds a little nutty, but both my kids accepted that without any problem.

We did it last year, because hubby wanted cookies. And we tossed out reindeer food because Rachel brought some home...her class made some and so she required that we do it. Personally, I never did it as a kid (didn't believe in Santa either), so I honestly don't care if we do it or not. I want the day to be about Jesus, not Santa.
That being said, we'll probably set out milk and cookies when we get home from candlelight service at church.

Yes, and Cheyanne asks me what kind of cookies I want She knows it's me but still pretends there is a Santa because it's fun. What she doesn't know is that after she falls asleep I eat the cookies with some Captain Morgan and OJ while I finish wrapping her presents We sprinkle reindeer food out in the driveway too.

We did up until last year. Cookies and milk for Santa, and carrots and reindeer food for the reindeer. Kind of glad that has stopped...because I don't love cookies. Or milk. LOL

We have a tradition of making homemade cookies as a family and decorating them together. Then we leave a couple of those out with some milk for Santa. We've been doing it since they were toddlers and didn't understand it. It is now expected from the kids.

We do cookies & milk for Santa, though last year he got cheese, sausage & a beer because DH convinced the boys Santa would appreciate something different as a break from all those cookies.

The reindeer get nothing.

We leave a few cookies and milk out for Santa and make Reindeer food for Rudolph and the gang! The boys sprinkle the food outside on Christmas Eve before they go to bed. The cookies and milk are the last thing before bedtime b/c of the cats!!!

growing up we left...
- cookies and coke for santa (started with milk. but then i turned 5 and realized that milk goes bad if you leave it out)
- a carrot for rudolph
- chinese rice. because it makes the reindeer fly (you can blame my aunt for that one.. every year we had chinese food the week of christmas thanks to that comment).

my poor parents. they had to eat the cookies, drink the coke, and then bite the carrot so it looked like rudolph ate some. and then the rice had to get scattered on the front stairs and the walkway.

We always bake cookies on Christmas Eve so we leave cookies and milk out for Santa, I even found a cute plate & cup set at one of the Dollar Stores many years ago that we always use. We also sprinkle Reindeer Food outside on the lawn for Santa's Reindeer, the kids almost always make some at school before winter break so we have to put it out!
