Default Decorating fickleness???

My DH is about to kill me because I want to re-do our bedroom even though I bought a new duvet cover and quilt about 5 or 6 months ago. I never found curtains to match, never painted to match, so it never really felt "right" to me. So Im currently looking for a new comforter set for the bedroom.

We have been in this house for 4 years now and I want to change the kitchen. I have a coffee theme right now and I dont like it. Its too "cutesy" and I am tired of it. I dont know if I really need a theme in my kitchen but then I dont know how to decorate it.

I desperately need a new couch. We have had our couch for 7 years now and the kids, husband, and pets have made it look like crap. Springs are worn out, huge scratches in the fabric from the stupid cat, etc... Hopefully I can get a new couch in the next year or two and then can redecorate the living room. My living room right now is jewel tones- I have an eggplant colored couch which I really loved but my style has changed. I want a leather or microsuede couch now.

Anyways, am I the only one who is so fickle about decorations in their house?

No... my hubby isn't happy that I want new bedding, either. lol! I just got a purple set in the summer and I'm sick of it... but it also doesn't help that we have been here for 8 years and have only painted 3 walls! My hubby loathes painting and won't help me... and I have a deathly fear of ladders... I feel like my house has no style... which he doesn't get at all.

geez ur fickle :P

I know exactly what I want in every room..it's just affording it that's the problem lol

I bought a new bedroom comforter set a few months back..still sitting in the pkg though waiting on dh to paint *eyeroll*

we went with a dark plum color..totally surprised dh went for it but we found one and loved it. We went shopping with a color palette already in mind so that helped

Well, we've had our bedding set for a few years, and it needs to be replaced...enough so that DH is the one who brought it up, not me. LOL. But it's not something that is a 'must', so it will wait.

Our dining NEEDS to be replaced...we have a great table, but the chair legs are wobbly, and one has already broken.
The living...uggh...it's not old, but yeah, childhood has taken its toll on it. The couch is nasty, the tables have been dinged, etc. But again, the expense. We'll probably just get a slipcover and deal with the nasty tables until our finances improve.

Oh man....let's not even get started on my table. We bought that about 3.5 years ago and its falling apart. Screws literally just fall out of the legs and they are so unsafe. I called Star furniture when it was still under warrantly and they fixed 2 chairs but said all of the rest were fine. And what do you know- like a month after our warranty expired more screws were falling out. Makes me so mad.

And I feel you guys on the painting. We painted my office and its a real nice light cream color but the rest of the house needs it too. Our entry way is like 2 stories high and we need to either hire someone to paint or rent scaffolding to do it. A long extension ladder will not cut the bill here.

Oh and lesson learned about paint. Never, ever, ever get anything other than semi-gloss finish. We did either satin or egg-shell finish in our master bedroom and the boys room and it shows fingerprints, water marks if we spilled a glass of water and it splashed on the wall, etc. If you take a cloth to wipe it off, the cloth is the color of the paint.

Sigh. And DH is such a terd about decorating. His first wife had...well lets just say different decorating tastes than I do and he was stuck in that rut when we met. Like blue couch, mauve accents, country style stuff. So.Not.Me. He doesnt want flower stuff on the bedding. I have killed myself trying to find something that I like for bedding while honoring his wishes about not too floraly and so that leaves me with boring stuff. Not that I want to go overboard with the florals but it would be nice to have some feminine touches in this house. Well, he finally caved today and told me I could get whatever I want. HE usually always likes my taste and knows Im not going to pick something thats ugly. HALLELUJAH! Now to find something that I think I will like for at least 3-4 years even though I know I will change my mind a year after I get my new stuff! LOL!

Oooh, that's pretty! My mornings are fly by the seat of my pants to get the kids ready and out the door, while getting myself ready for work, so making our bed is the last priority. So, our bedset has gotten neatly stored away. As much as I would love to decorate the house more, the kids are quite hard on things, which has made Kyle a scrooge about spending money on new furniture, even panting the walls which seems to be a beacon for fingerprints, drink spills, etc.! I've come to terms that one day, we'll have a nice house, but not right now.

My parents are so irritated- I paint my bedroom every couple of years, and they're getting sick of the layers of paint. And it's not even close stuff-- I'll have a bright orange followed by a mellow blue. As soon as I get it fixed and re-organized soon, I'm planning on re-doing it. I also did Zach's room EXACTLY how I wanted it, and now the more I see on Pinterest, the more I'm considering changing parts of it! Oops... Lol. He's not even a year old!

I have a white pintuck duvet cover (the one from west elm) and i adore it .. the nice thing about going that way is If I can get bored I can always change things around and don't have to worry about it clashing with anything

Ive gone the neutral route and im sick of it. Not to mention the kids and the pets make it grimy and filthy and the more I wash it the sooner it falls apart. Dumb kids and pets.

Nope - I LOVE to redecorate - We move every 2 to 4 years and I love getting rid of stuff so it forces up to get new stuff to redecorate every time we move
In the beginning I had a hard time convincing my husband to redecorate and buy new furniture, until all of our stuff ends up in they yard when they pack us out - then you can see all the wear and tear really bad - he wanted to pitch it all.
We have gotten smarter and started buying more substantial furniture - I absolutely love Ikea but it will not last through 1 move... so I really try not to buy too much from there.
One good thing about moving - we don't end up keeping a lot of crap and we get to paint every move - I was doing browns and taupe but this house is a really pretty butter-cream yellow.

I'm SO with you!! We actually redid our kitchen about a year ago (painted the cabinets white, changed curtains, etc) and our playroom/computer room/everything room (redid the mantel, curtains, etc)... but I also went the neutral route and it's so boring to me now. I probably won't change those two rooms, but now I want to change everything else.

Our living room is HUGE and red. All red. I love it, but it's been that way for 5 1/2 years and my style is evolving (I just now feel like I can do my own thing good enough) and I want lighter and brighter. We just have to actually prime it this time and it's a LOT... so I don't know when it will happen, but I want to so bad.

However, in the meantime, I am finally redoing Elijah's room--turning it into a boy nursery instead of pink/yellow/black room that his sister had before. (at least the walls are yellow and not pink). I'm planning to paint this week and then change out accessories as soon as I know what to put there.

And I've never done anything in the laundry room and now I want to do that too.

I love rearranging and changing things around when I can. It helps if we can't totally redecorate!

I get bored with the way I have things decorated very easily so I like to change things up a lot but usually in simple ways since we can't afford major renovations. Our bedroom isn't super fancy, we don't have nice matching furniture or anything and the carpet is mauve (was here when we moved in years ago) but I usually get a new comforter set (or quilt) about once a year to change things up. Drives my DH crazy sometimes lol, but I usually don't get anything too expensive.

so yeah- that really pretty dark blue bedspread that I posted earlier is just WAY too expensive. Plus its really formal and Im not a formal person at all. So I found this quilt that is so bright and happy and DH said he actually likes it!
