Default Shoot..what a waste.

I bought a copy of CS4 on eBay a few years ago. It came and I was scared to use it, so it sat in the box unopened. Today I decide to install it and see what I could do on my new computer. It didn't work, after thinking I got screwed over, I read the back. It doesn't work in Windows 7! Plus I can't find my discs for PhotoShop Elements and now I can't edit any photos. I scrap in PaintShop Pro, so I can scrap, but I do all my editing and actions in PSE. Now I have a copy of CS4 just sitting here and don't know what to do with it.

Yeah, I am thinking about it, but I haven't sold anything on eBay in years and years.

That stinks! Too bad there isn't some sort of plug in you can use. Have you checked the Adobe forum just to make sure there isn't some way to make it compatible?

Maybe it will work. I googled and saw this on Microsoft's website. Maybe it's a driver issue that can be fixed with an easy download? Or try this??

I'm using CS3 on a Windows 7 computer, so I've got to think CS4 will work, too.

I also use CS3 on a Windows 7 computer and it works just fine, so I don't know why CS4 wouldn't work. I would try installing it anyway and see if the drivers just need updated or something.

This is me too, and that's what I thought. I'm sure there's some kind of update you can use that'll allow you to install CS4.

Mines a few years old though, before Windows 7 was out.

Thanks for the links, girls, I will look into them.

Mine's an older copy of CS 3 that came out a year or two before Windows 7 and I never had issues getting it to install.

Yeah, it says right on the back its compatible with XP & Vista and when I put it in, it errors right away. I forget exactly what it said, but wouldn't even start.

That's so odd, Mari! I bought this copy of CS4 when it first came out (Oct 08 I think?), and I just recently installed it on my new computer which runs Win7 64-bit. On the CS4 box, it doesn't mention Win7, but it runs just fine. I don't recall having to do anything special to install it. How very bizarre!

I googled quickly and found this with troubleshooting tips for installing CS4 in Windows 7.

I think CS4 is still a supported product, so if you can't find a way to get it working contact Adobe.

It keeps saying Autorun "File Access Denied". I clicked around and it looks like it has everything on it that should be on it.

Can you find a setup file that ends in exe? Maybe you can double click it directly to get it working. It's been 2 years since I installed mine so I can't remember if I had to do that, but I know I've had to do it from time to time when installing things.
