I actually carry a dryer sheet or Static Guard spray for my hair when I travel because hotel water always makes mine full of static.

I have been having terrible static problems with my hair. I haven't done it yet, but my hair gal told me to rub a tiny amount of a lightweight gel on my hair after I have styled it. I seem to be in the same boat as you -- so full of static. I think it is really bad here right now because our winter has been so dry!

My hair always gets really static-y in the winter and I tried lots and lots of shampoos and conditioners before I found one that worked all the time. So, I use Biolage. It's more pricey than your average shampoo, but you can find it in regular stores (at least you can here), so it's not quite as pricey as some of the salon brands. Everyone is different, so it might not work for you, but I don't bother even trying other brands anymore.

Buy a humidifier. You can even buy quiet ones that don't make the air feel damp, but electricity travels better through dry air than wet, so lots of static. Some are pretty sophisticated and don't let your room get muggy. Or I just limit how much water I put in my cheap ones.

Definitely a humidifier!! My hair was a static-y mess before and now that we have a humidifier it's helped tremendously!! Poor Claire though - she still is a little walking ball of static!!

Does it make a difference if you don't blow-dry your hair? And...I'm glad to know there is someone out there brave enough to rub a dryer sheet on their head...(I think I would do it behind closed doors though!!)

I am using a more moisturizing shampoo & conditioner. And trying to drink a lot of water. The humidifier helps as well.

I get that all the time when I go grocery shopping and I am not sure why it is just grocery stores. To the point I am afraid to grab stuff off the shelves or touch anyone. A static shock does not hurt exactly but when you do it dozens of times it is a little startling and I hate the feeling of being shocked anyhow.

I use an anti-static shock key chain (under $5). You could attach it to your belt-loop, too. This doesn't help with my hair, but it's very short, so it doesn't matter.
I've carried dryer sheets in my purse before, though, when it was longer. You could easily sneak into a public restroom to rub it on your head, but I would just do it where ever! lolol |
