Default My poor layouts!

I'm realizing how much I love digital right about now. I went looking for an old paper layout and while browsing through the albums I was disappointed to find that so many pages are falling apart. I was a pretty element heavy scrapper and the glue is just not holding with 8+ years of time. Do you find this happening? What is the optimum storage...they're in my scrap room in the basement, upright. Anything else I should be doing?

Were the glues acid-free? Sorry, I'm not much help. My paper pages weren't element heavy.

Yes, some of mine are doing the same thing - and not just the heavier elements, just the papers. And a lot of them are the layouts done with Hermafix tape runner , which were supposed to be soooo good. I have no advice. Some of mine I have taken out and re-taped what I could but that's about it.

Yup, I've had pictures popped off, lots of metal, and some of the papers are starting to lift. I was religous about making sure I had the "quality" stuff - Hermafix was a brand I favored too. I've been rescrapping some of the pictures, but disappointing that those paper layouts probably won't stand the test of time!

somewhere I read the laying flat is better than upright for heavy pages. If it was me, I would reglue, then take a high quality photograph of each page using one of the tutorials that the paper scrappers use. Then if needed you could have a page reprinted in digital form.

This is why I stopped paper scrapping. I was pretty into CM - and those products have some lasting power, but when I first started paper scrapping years ago I didn't know the difference quality wise as I only had my own experience to go on. I opened up the wedding album I had started and I wanted to cry when I saw the condition it was in. Its what converted me completely to digital.
