Default What makes you feel better...

when you're sick?

It started Friday. The cough, the sore throat, the blahs.
It's now Thursday and I'm still feeling not like me.
I've taken meds, downed OJ, had too many cups of hot tea.

My cough is going away, but my head just feels foggy. I'm tired of feeling like this!

What do you do to feel better when you're under the weather?

It sure doesn't help that we have 3 kids AND I babysit, so there are millions of germs passing through here daily!

I eat comfort food....I always crave mac and cheese and pie when I am sick. LOL
Also when I have a fever, I try and go to bed early, turn up the heat, stack on the blankets and sweat it out. I usually break the fever by morning and feel so much better.

Hope you feel better soon!!

I haven't run a fever since the weekend, thank goodness! And I've totally been taking meds at night to help me sleep. The fog is just getting to me. It's affecting everything, the house, my scrapping, my attitude! lol, I just want to have a clear head.

Nyquil at night... sleep like a baby and wake up feeling great... I also drink a lot of ginger ale (only Canada Dry)... smell eucalyptus (Kleenex use to have scented tissue with this - oh, they were awesome! Apparently don't have those right now...).

My last cold, my mom told me about this home remedy called the guggle-muggle... In saucepan, add the juice of 1 grapefruit, 1 lemon and 1 orange and 1 Tbsp of honey. Bring it to a boil while stirring. Take it off the fire, pour it into a glass, then add at least 1 ounce of your favorite liquor, like Brandy. Drink it down, then get under the covers and go to sleep.

I did this and I woke up feeling great... I still had a little head cold, but I felt way better than I did the day before.

Awww, sorry to hear that you're sick Nikki. I'm home this morning with a sick kid too. Unfortunately I have little advice, when I'm sick the house ends up a pigsty because this mom is out of commission - I do as little as possible and focus on getting better ASAP. The kids are at school most of the day and Kyle takes care of everything at night. Keep pumping the fluids, getting dehydrated is the worst on top of being sick. Feel better soon!

There's something in the air! I caught a cold last Saturday and have the worst congestion! Getting over it reeeeeally slowly. I eat ice cream and drink tons of milk (boba) tea to make myself feel better, haha. Not that that actually MAKES me better

If you are conjested oj and dairy products are not really good for you. They cause more phlem. But it depend on if it is cold or flu. Colds I usually drink chicken broth really warm and take dayquil or tylenol cold. Typically helps. The flu it depends on if I am able to keep anything down. But in general if I am sick I just drink a lot of fluids and warm broth (cannot stand hot tea anymore). If you feel conjested though go to the pharmacist and tell them your exact symptoms and they can usually recomend something that will help those symptoms. Oh and honey....honey has soooo many antibacterial properties it is amazing at helped with colds. Also sore throat...salt water gargle. I love home rememdies they are usually better then any medication you get in the store

Other than checking out from the world...

Salt water gargles
Losenges (those zinc ones)
Hot steamy baths or running a vaporizer in your room when you sleep!
