Default Christmas Music...

OK - Is it just me - or does anyone else NOT care for the "new" renditions of Christmas songs ... as in - a Christmas song being sung with a new up-beat - almost hip-hop spin to it?? I reallllllly can't stand it.... and our radio stations play them constantly!! I am listening to one - Joy To The World - and half-way through - it changes to this hip-hop beat of some other christmas-sy tune - and then back to Joy To The World.............

I'm pretty traditional when it comes to my Christmas music. There are some I like the new renditions, and I get why people want to update them, but I'm just an old stick in the mud when it comes to my Christmas tunes.

However, the Jars of Clay rendition of Little Drummer Boy is by far my favorite over the older version

Nope, you're not alone I like the oldies that I grew up with (or even my parents grew up with) with an occasional modern one thrown in but not really modern like the hip-hop stuff - more modern as in a country music version or Straight, No Chaser version.

Totally in agreement, and so is my kiddo. She is very opinionated and tells me whenever someone is singing a song 'the wrong way.'

Every once in a while I love the new versions, but normally it is not when a pop group or singer sings them. I'm not super upset by hearing them or anything, but I do prefer the traditional ones - they just feel more like Christmas to me.
