Pictures, Papers or Ellies?
What do you start with when you scrap?
I start with a picture, then papers, then ellies |
#2
|
||||
|
||||
template THEN papers then elements and then pictures, sometimes picture before elements
ALthough I do have some templates that have photos inserted and are just waiting for me to figure out kits to use for them |

Depends... for CT work, I start by pulling the ellies I want to use from the folders, then photos and finally paper...
For other pages, pictures, paper and then ellies...

It differs for me. If I have a specific kit to use, I'll do papers and ellies before choosing the photo. If on the other hand I already know which photo I'm going to use with the kit, then I put that in first, then papers then ellies.

I usually have a picture in mind beforehand but I start with elements, then paper pieces, then background papers, journaling and then the photo and finally shadowing. Probably the only one who does it that way. But since elements are my favorite part of a kit it is what I gravitate towards.

Usually template, then pics, elements, papers, then alpha/journaling/shadowing.

I start with a picture, then ellies, then paper. This might be why I have such a hard time finding just the right background paper.

Usually pictures, papers, then ellies. But just today I was making a layout and I made the entire thing then picked the pictures and finished with the title and journaling. I don't do that often, though.

i start with my pictures and try to find out what colors i want to use. when i want to use a template, i search for a template that has the right picture placement (sometimes i tweak it).
from there i chose the papers and when i got that ready i start with embellishments. i use acdsee for my stash (otherwise i would be lost) and have everything richly tagged so everything after chosing pictures comes quite easy. |

Photos, template, papers, elements, title. Journaling goes before elements if there's a lot of it or its placement is important. Otherwise it goes after elements. I'm finding there's a lot more of a Project Life learning curve than I expected because my usual order doesn't work. There it's journaling, then photos, then elements.

I figure out which general set of pictures I am going to use. I don't necessarily decide specifically which one at first. Then I figure out which kit I'm going to use if I didn't already have one in mind or if one didn't immediately come to mind when I chose my pictures. I open up a paper from the kit for a background paper and then pull some of the pictures onto it. Sometimes that will be the basis for my layout and I'll move things around, change it out, etc. from there. Other times I will get frustrated, decide how many and which pictures I really want to use and then go searching for a template with that number of photo slots to see if any arrangements catch my eye. I rarely use templates 100% like they are created, but I do love them for a general jumping off point. Elements are pretty much always last for me, other than journaling which is the final part of the page before I save and call it done.

Me too! Picture, papers, ellies. Sometimes word (if it's on a big card) art sneaks in there with the picture.

Pictures first. The rest can vary, but I'd say (template) - papers - ellies - (title) - (journalling) - shadowing would be the general procedure. :-)

elements every time.
Well, a plain paper first that I can change later. Then I tip almost the entire elements file onto my page and play with them What photo I am going to use sort of comes to me as the page comes together Not the most organised method in the world !! |

Once I have a template and an idea of the pics I'm going to use I'll open every item from the main kit that I like and think I am going to put on the lo. I'll work on geting the papers in how I want and matching up the ones I opened - not all get used Then I add in pics and change papers if I don't feel they go well. Then I start to pile on all the ellies. After that is when I'll go through and pick out all the extras to add - paint, alphas, doodles and such and add stuff until it looks done to me. However occasionally I see a template that screams for a certain kit, so I'll do up the entire template with papers and ellies the n find a pic to match and then fill in with extras depending on the feel the pics give it.

It's usually a CT kit, so I have a rough idea of what pic(s) I'm going to use before I start.
I pick a template first and delete all the element layers so I'm just down to picture and paper/shapes. Then I place all my elements (+ shadowing) and then picture(s) and then papers last. |

I've usually got the photo(s) I'm going to use first opened but they're not the first thing on the layouts. That's usually whatever the background is going to be then I work from there adding elements and photos.
Sometimes, though, I just feel like "playing" with a kit and I'll put a layout together and then look for photos that match it...or save it without photos until I have some that do. |

most of the time: picture, template, papers, ellies, alpha/journaling.
sometimes: journaling, template, papers, photos, ellie, alpha. |
