Default Where do you look for accountability (weight loss)?

So, I'm doing the Made to Crave Bible Study, and it's all about weight loss and finding your spiritual want-to. I've reached a part in the study where Lysa (the author/speaker) talks about how important accountability is.

She talks about her friends that she's leaned on who are ahead of her in the journey, friends who are around the same point she is, and encourages friends who are behind her in the journey. And then she encourages the reader/listener to do the same.

But... I don't have anyone to lean on with it! I've seriously wracked my brain. I can't think of anyone in my family who is at the same place (and I've tried doing the study and weight loss before with family and it never fully pans out). While my boyfriend is GREAT for helping me stay motivated and really encouraging, I feel like it's taking away from other communication we could be having because I'm reporting to him for accountability.

Here's the kicker. I really don't have any friends. I had college friends, I had high school friends, but after I graduated and had a baby and they went their separate ways and moved away, I really don't have any friends to lean on with this. I don't really have many friends to lean on with much of anything.

Do you guys have any ideas of where to find some accountability to stay motivated to lose weight? I seriously don't know where to look.

ETA: This came off whinier and "poor me" than I intended. That's not how I mean it at all! Oops.

If you use some of the online/app food trackers, like My Fitness Pal, you can become friends with other users and maybe be accountable to them. Here's a recent thread where some people here gave their info to connect over at My Fitness Pal. If you go that route, you can add me, too. I'm rach3975 there. I haven't added anyone yet since I wasn't sure if I was going to stick to MFP (I've used a different app for a few years), but so far I like it and am planning to keep using it.

I didn't think about app friends... that's actually a really great idea! I'll look through that thread and add people (and you!)

Yea I was going to say online friends as well...I know I certainly dont have many friends here that would get it. I know a couple online though and of course maybe you could find someone in particular you click with to have as an accountability partner?

We used to have a thread to check in about how our weight loss was going... I think Libby started it. Now I can't remember why it stopped. But that was nice to have here. It seemed like a lot of us were on a weight loss journey and could be good at supporting each other. I've grabbed several great healthy recipes from this forum too. We should start that back up... Especially since it's a new year!

I know in weight watchers online there is a great forum for questions, recipes, and accountability. I'm sure there's got to be other online forums for accountability depending on your diet plan. Maybe you could join a Facebook group or something related to that?

I lost a heap of weight after my daughter was born and I joined an online weightloss forum. I am still friends with those girls, most of us talk in groups on FB now. I found they were more motivating than the real life club I go to now. Lots of good advice & encouragement.

I was wondering if we had a weightloss thread here seeing as so many of us are trying again. I'm using the app My Net Diary which I like better than My Fitness Pal even though it has no barcode scanner

A thread here would be really encouraging. I know we've had them in the past, but I'm not sure where that went-- I never really participated before, but I feel like I'm more serious this time, and I'd do better with that accountability. I've tried an in-person weight watchers meeting and it seemed stressful! And, now that I'm not doing WW, I'm not sure it would be as beneficial.

Rachel, any idea on how to add people from just a username? I'm only finding options to add from phone contacts, email addresses, or facebook... :/

Otherwise, I love MyFitnessPal... that barcode scanner comes in handy!
