Default Do you delete kits?

I'm trying to get organized and I'm looking at some of my older kits that I've never used but I spent $$$ for and I'm wonderig should I delete them or try to scrap with them. I'm torn becaue I hate to waste $$$ but heck I don't want to waste space on my EHD either....

I purge too. But if I REALLY can't decide if I might use a kit in the future, I burn it to cd and make note of it in an excel spreadsheet.

I've been digi scrapping for like...4 years now...I don't delete, lol. Well, stuff that was downright ugly and I'm not sure why I ever downloaded it, yes...but kits and stuff, no...especially if I bought it and it wasn't a freebie.

I used to be REALLLLLY cheap.... I never bought kits, and downloaded freebies like a mad woman. Then one day I woke up and realized, "Hey, these kits are UGLY!!" and deleted anything that wasn't my taste.

I've never deleted whole kits that I've purchased, but I have gone through and deleted elements that I knew I'd never use. It frees up space, and I don't have to look at ugly things anymore! It makes me feel much better when I look thru ACDSee!!

I just recently did a freebie purge, it was joyous. But I can't bring myself to delete kits I've purchased.

I delete constantly.. and get yelled at for it If I spent money on something I do try to hang onto it for as long as possible.. OR I go through the kit and just save the bits and pieces I really like.

Yes, ma'am, I do. I think I need a badge - I'm proud to delete! I'm trying so hard not to horde just 'cause. And it helps me see the waste of buying just because it looks pretty - but will I *USE* it.

I would have to agree, DELETE! There is no reason to hang onto something you are never going to use. Kind of like Spring cleaning your house, if you don't use it, lose it!

I really took some guts for me to finally just get over it and hit DELETE but I did it and I felt so much better. LOL I am a pack rat to begin with so hording all these digi things was just craziness. I have come to realize how much space I saved by just deleting. There are things that even though they are no longer in my taste I just can't part with them so I put them on to a cd.

Yup, I delete regularly. I don't own anything pre-2006 (though I've been scrapping since 2003) except a few bits 'n' pieces tucked in a favorites folder. I've deleted several collections from early last year as well.

It's not like you get the money back whether you use it or not, y'know?

I go through kits and delete papers or embellies I know I'll never use. But typically I burn to DVDs and clear off my EHD that way.

The Fly Lady says we shouldn't keep anything that makes us feel guilty. So if it makes you feel like you *need* to use it, even though you don't like it, delete it. I just went through and deleted a whole bunch of old freebies, and I finally deleted the first Quarterly Assortment from here. {sniff sniff} I was out of space on my EHD and I had lots of NEW stuff from here I would rather have on my ehd, so I don't feel *too* bad about it. LOL I'm just sentimental.

I keep a backup copy but delete it from my main scrapping HD. I just can't bear to part with things entirely, especially things I've purchased.

seriously i have issues... BUT i have to say it lessens the sting when designers retire stuff... since i can't handle that at all!

when i run out of space i know i should like archive and burn to cd .... yada yada yada.... but instead... i just buy a new ehd

Heh, I'm way too new at this to say so, no where NEAR the purging time, but I don't think I'd be able to part with my lovelies! I bought them their own EHD! 500 G! Just for them. But omg yes about freebies, if you have ugly freebies I say delete em! I'm a packrat though so who knows, I sit there with one thing on my mind, "If I delete this now, what if I'm kicking myself for it later?" Cuz you know you NEVER needed it til it's gone dang it!

I just deleted at least half of my stash last night, literally. Most of it was freebies I'd downloaded, but some was kits. If I knew realistically that I'd never use it, it went. I wish I could just delete parts of kits I don't like and keep the rest, but I just can't seem to do it. I'm an all or nothing kind of girl. lol

I'm actually considering having my friend that has a similar style come over and delete some stuff for me. I KNOW for a fact I'd never miss it, and she knows what I'll use and not use.

I was inspired by all the deleting unused digi stuff posts so I purged my stash today, I deleted 28gb worth of stuff! Of course I have everything in dvds but it's so good to see that I have 281gb free disk space!

I need to do a purge soon. I don't want to start tagging in ACDSee and then delete it. That'll piss me off, lol.

I have deleted a lot - I used to down load every SINGLE danged freebie out there! What I didn't delete I did lose a lot when my EHD crashed since I'd only double backed up my "better" and organized stuff. I'm getting another EHD this weekend and I'll probably start purging again. Not only has the quality improved a millionfold in the last few years, my style has evolved too so some stuff I'd just never ever use.

It's funny. I am an anti-packrat IRL, but for awhile I was keeping every single element from every kit I downloaded.
I'm getting better but still need to look through and figure out what I really might actually use again. WHY do I have the hardest time getting rid of stuff I got from CT assignments?? Two years ago?!?!?!

I delete. The quality has improved so much and fantastic new goodies are showing up all the time that I'd much rather make room for new stuff than hang on to old stuff I'm not going to use.

I delete. I might keep a couple pieces out of a kit, or an alpha maybe, but if I know I'll never use it, it is gone. If I am iffy I move it to my use it or lose folder & if it is still there unused a few months later I delete it then.

But, I backup "My Recieved Files" folder whenever it reaches 4GBs and then delete everything, so I actually still have a copy of everything I've ever downloaded. I don't think I could find a specific kit if I had to, but I do have a copy of it somewhere....

I haven't read any of the response but I am like you I spend very little money on scrapping supplies because I have a same budget so I hate to delete something I paid money for. I mean i had to have liked something about it to pay for it so i try to think out side the box and "use" it up.

1. You can always recolor to fit your needs.
2. Try blending the papers with others to get a fresh fun look.
3. Do you have any overlays or textures in your stash? Use those on your papers. So quick and so easy!!
4. If you use photoshop (or elements) it has built in filters you can apply to the papers to help change them up. You also have the ability to "import" your own textures to use on papers. It's really easy too!!!
5. See if you can alter the elements (by adding to or taking away from them).
6. Google for free actions and stuff to help freshen up your stash and help stretch that those kits to their limits (Atomic Cupcake still offers a few free actions).

I am the biggest penny pincher/frugal mama I know so there is no way I would EVER delete (or throw away) something I paid hard earned cash for. Some may think that's silly but that's just me!!!

I say purge. If you haven't used it all this time, do you think you'll even remember to go back and use something from it? If you really think you would, you could save a few on a CD and label it. I use to do that, but in my experience I've only gone back to the CD a couple times. Part of it is I can't remember the contents of the kit, partly there's so many releases every week that I only use what's new, partly because I don't have the time to look through what I saved. So far, I don't miss anything I deleted.

So I just read all the response and I am totally in the minority on this subject. But like I said I really don't buy a lot, I only spent about 150 dollars totally last year and so far this year I've only spent about $40 dollars. So there is now way I would ever ever delete something I bought because I am very very picky about what I buy. Plus I am a total bargin hunter and always try to get the most for my $$ (I only spent about $23 dollars on NSD but had almost 125 zips to download totaling almost 6GB worth of stuff!!!).

I have been know to delete freebies from time to time but even then I can almost always find a use for it and love it. Plus I know my "style" and I have learned to just not download the ones I don't like.

I delete if I know I will NEVER use them. I was in awe how quickly my taste in kits changed over the years. If I like them and think I "might" use them I save to a CD (although I never typically go back to them.)
