Those of you who are upset about losing screenshots...Kristin gave me a link last night that was mentioned on DST for a program that does screenshots (images AND video...thought that was pretty cool). She's been using one called Skitch, but it's only for Mac (they supposedly are working on making it work for PC, but it's been like several months and there's still nothing).
So anyway...Kristin gave me a link to The Jing Project and I FINALLY got it installed (you have to have Microsoft .NET installed, which I didn't and trying to install that was not working last night, but I restarted and it worked fine this morning). Anyhow, it's pretty cool...while it's not as EASY as Hello...but it puts this little yellow half circle at the very top of your screen...when you want to do a screenshot, you just click on it and 3 little smaller circles shoot out from it, you choose "capture" from that. It gives you crosshairs to select which area of your screen you'd like to capture, then asks you if it's image or video. Once it takes the screenshot, it asks you if you'd like to upload via their host (screencast), or you can use Flickr, FTP, and a couple other options. It uploads quickly and immediately creates a URL and copies it to your clipboard, so you can send it to your friends in whatever chat program you are using. Like I said, Kristin has been using one similar called Skitch for several months...we were trying to find a way for her to do something similar to Hello since she couldn't on a Mac. And it works pretty well for her, and the Jing Project seems to be REALLY similar to it. Check it out! ![]() http://screencast.com/t/nBAfNeyco Cool, right? ![]() |

LOL, so do I. But I was thinking last night...
Goober, Trillian, Qnext, etc...all allow you to roll several types of IM's into one...Yahoo, Google Talk, MSN, AIM and ICQ...and a few others that I don't have, lmao. SO...what you have to do is this... Everyone needs to pick the IM manager thingie that they like best. Everyone needs to give a Yahoo account ID, and then we can talk to eachother in whatever program works best for us. LOL! We don't all have to be using the same program - just using the same basic service...what we choose to use for the wrapper is totally up to us, kwim. Then, use a program that you like for doing screenshots...you just paste the URL and can share with anyone, in any IM or in blogs, emails etc. I know there are probably other programs like Jing out there...I mean, obviously Skitch, but there are probably others too. Seems like an easier solution to me than having everyone fight about which wrapper we're going to use, when neither do screenshots (well Goober does, but a lot of people are having problems with it). KWIM? |

I agree. I have all my chat clients already in Trillian, so the rest of these are pointless really. Unless there's another one like Hello out there.

Jing doesn't seem any easier than just going print screen and uploading to your own PB...IMO anyways

Pity goober and Qnext don't let you import one another's accounts, then everyone could just use whichever they prefer.
Bree's suggestion of every getting a Yahoo ID and just using whatever service they prefer is probably the best way to get the most people connected. |

But now I'm thinking out loud and wondering if Goober can import AIM and do screenshots then I may just go that route instead. Decisions, decisions, LOL!
