Candy Tin HELP!!!

Nonnie, I have not done an altoids box before, but if I were, I'd print on matte presentation paper (like I do all my hybrid stuff) and modge podge or Xyron the cover on. I'd also seal it with spray sealer or modge podge after it was completely dry. I hope we get to see it when it is finished.

I printed my album, inked the edges, added journaling, etc. and while it was drying I painted the lid and them mod podged the covers on. There are 5 coats of mod podge on my tin so it iwll stand up to the abuse my husband will do to it, lol

Do they have a spray Modge Podge? I just have to goop... For better or worse - I will post!!!

Yes you can use acrylic paint. If you're going to paint the tin, I suggest running some sandpaper over it first. Otherwise the paint can have a tendency to chip and flake off.
No, they don't have spray mod podge. Kryon is the spray sealer I have, I think. It's with the spray paints.
When you do mod podge to seal, use THIN coatings, and be sure to let it dry completely before you add another layer.

I used a paint marker from walmart for the tin, after I sanded it lightly. I used a foam brush and matte mod podge. I use really really really thin coats. Mine's designed to withstand the abuse it will get when my husband is deployed shortly.
This is great - Jay is deployed too! Plan on sending it in the care package - Perfect size for him! - Thanks for the tips- Did you use the sharpie paint marker?

Just painters brand, big pack that was sold cheap at walmart. its covered with mod podge as well. DH loves having mini albums when he is gone, and these are perfect because they can handle being in ACU pockets and not be destroyed

2.25" front to back
3.5" side to side
0.75" from inside bottom of tin to rim

Well, I have bought 2 ALTOIDS tins from eBay and eat the candies regularly
I have read some of the articles you recommend and there is couple of questions:
1. Which type of Mod Podge should I buy?
2. The tins are bit embossed. How to stick the fron cover of the tin so it is completely smooth?

Okay now here is another noob question lol how do you make sure the modge podge stuff is thin? what kinda brush do I use to put it on AND to sand the tin do you just use some sand paper and go over it a few times?

DeepGirl: There are several kinds of mod podge and it's totally a preference thing. I tend to use the matte finish. I haven't done specifically an altoids tin, so I can't really answer your question on the embossing, but I don't think that really matters. You're probably not gonna mash the paper into every embossed crack and crevice, so it will most likely not be that noticable.
Brandy: You can use any kind of paint brush that you have handy to put the mod podge on. Most people use the black foam brushes that are like 50 cents at the craft stores, just because they cover a larger area at once. I have 2 or 3 regular paint brushes that I use. To put it on thin, you just don't put a lot of the mod podge on the brush. It's just like painting. Lots of stuff on brush = thick coat. Not a lot of stuff on brush = thin coat.

I googled Altoid Tin templates and got a ton of hits!!! That's what I used and it worked out great!!!! Mine was for a cover and then all I did was resize it down a quarter of an inch for the inside cards!!!!
