Clever Monkey Graphics 12 Tags of 2025 Challenge - January

TraceyM

Sweet Shoppe Designer
Welcome 2025 and welcome to my monthly tag challenge.

WINNER: Thank you all for playing along this month. The tags you all created were so much fun and so inspiring to see, so I hope you'll be back next month and ask your scrappy friends to join us. I'm about to create the new month post. But first.............
I counted 33 qualifying tags. Number 30 wins it. AshleyMilfd's our winner with her last tag - the piggy one. ashleymilfd - look for a PM from me! (and yes you really listened to advice given and made a great tag on that piggy one! If I remember quickly, it may have been one of my CT that offered up advice)

Each month you will make a tag and post it to the challenge page. The tag should represent something to you for that month. At the end of each month I will count the submissions and use a random number generator to choose a winner. If the winner has used my products to make the tag, they will receive a $10 gift certificate to my store. If the winner has used other designer products in their tag, they will win a $5 gift certificate to my store. To post in this thread, I suggest you load to the store gallery and use that link to post in this thread. You are allowed 5 official tag entries each month but please put them all in the same post - just keep coming back and editing it.
Monthly tag challenge will end at midnight East Coast timezone on the last day of each month. Most likely, I will pick and post the winner the next day.

Each month I will give you a link to a tag base. You may use that, or a previously posted one, or simply grab a tag from a kit or create your own tag. By the end of the year you will have collected 12 tag bases to play with.

Myself and my creative team will show off some fun examples at the beginning of each monthly challenge post.

Creative Team member Melinda created tags all December and she was my inspiration for this challenge. Here were her thoughts on tag creation that she followed, but you do you. The idea here is to have some fun and maybe even create a tag that you plan to use in a layout.

"...-My tags were very 'element driven' - there was a cute element or word phrase that I wanted to use on the tag and I built the other tag components around that one thing.
-Keep it simple, less is more. Tags are small, you don't need a whole lot to fill the space. 1 background paper, 1 focus element, 1 word phrase or title word, 1 small cluster to accent your main element
-Pre-made journal cards from a collection can be a great starting point, or even the main focus, for a tag.
-I challenged myself to only use things from 1 kit/collection for a tag as much as possible to keep it simpler.
-A photo on the tag is welcome, but is not necessary
-I added a fun ribbon, or other accent piece, to the top of my tags each day but that is not necessary if you don't want/need one."

Here are some January samples to get you started from me and my creative team:

I was oohing and aahing at Melinda all December long and really wanted to do something like that one day but didn't want to be a copycat :D so this challenge is so welcome!! I'll come back with my January tag.

Thanks for the tag, let's see if I can get something done with it.
I am with Lea, loving all those tags by Melinda! It gave me the idea of using both prompts during the December challenges: 1 for a Christmas themed layout and 1 for a Barcelona album (in the end I didn't manage to create them all for the Barcelona album, but I had the intention of doing so).

Oh my, this is along the lines of something I have been wanting to do but needed creative guidance (and template lol) let's see what I can do or "Pinterest fail"
_________
Meh, not feeling the first one and Meh on the second but I'm enjoying making them so that's what counts right?

My small ones just looked so.. Yuck so I shared this one from an external source but didn't realize it was so BIG. But the one I uploaded to SSD is SUPER yuck. Sorry for the EXTRA LARGE tag. I think I did better though. Took some advice from a very talented someone. (ty btw)

I'm back in for a peek at your cards ladies and I am going to love this year with this challenge ongoing in it! Thinking about what kind of card template to make you for the February addition! I'm working on creating a Valentine's Kit for next week's release... Would you want a heart shaped tag? Decisions decisions.

Heart shape sounds fun. It would be a little break from the usual square and rectangle scrapping.

Yes please! I don't know that I would make a heart tag otherwise but with the challenge, I think it would be fun.

Hopefully I did this correctly. Added ribbon, photo with frame, washitape, wordart and control tower to my tag...as well as paper for the background.

With your challenge I thought it would be fun (and might be a challenge too) to create a tag every week for this year. Wouldn't it be fun to look back at the end of the year and see 52 different tags?
With that in mind, I would love a heart tag for February, but not sure I would create 4 heart shaped tags. If it's possible, could you add a 'normal' tag as well, so people can choose which one to use? If that's too much trouble, just 1 tag would be great (I can always use the January tag again, right?).
