Hand made cards

I have a bunch of paper scrapping stuff, and I want to make a nice hand made card for Rae's preschool teacher. She has taught all three of our kids, and I want to get her something a little more thoughtful than just a regular store bought card.

Any tips? I guess I'll have to use a heavier cardstock for the card itself right?

Will Glue Dots work ok for any embellies I have? I don't want stuff to fall off.

Thanks for any help!

Jamie, yes you will need cardstock for the actual base, or you can go to a Hobby store and buy the blank ones and just cover the front, I do that alot so that I get the envies too.

Glue dots will be fine but they don't work well on prima flowers if you plan to use those. I like to use a liquid craft glue for those but will use glue dots on pretty much everything else when I make cards.

That's a great gift btw!

Jamie, you can find blank card bases all over. I think even Walmart might have them. I use glue dots for my primas all the time, I'm surprised you don't Pam, lol. It's so funny how adhesive is such a personal preference.

Haha, Col, the nearest Wal-Mart is 1 1/4 hours away LOL! However, I believe one of us has to go there on Saturday, I just thought of that...but I don't want to wait that long (I need the card Monday), in case I screw up LOL.

I think I would die if I lived that far away from Wal Mart.

It was brutal at first, but I got used to it. :p

The only consolation was that Amelia goes to Ballet in that town every Saturday, so I get to go then LOL

Wait are you using paper supplies or digital?
It doesn't have to be super thick cardstock to use, I use plain jane cardstock all the time for my card bases.
If your have paper scrapping papers that are on the thick side (and when I say that, I mean thicker than plain copy paper) those will be fine.
