Hybrid Help! Bind-it-all *format* question

If anyone has the bind-it-all book...it's the project on page 17. It's a 4x6" calendar bound at the top (with a chipboard triangle shaped base to make it stand up). It will be bound on the top of the page.

I am using Andrea Gold's 4x6" calendar template. I'm trying to decide if I should make the calendar down further on the 4x6" page...or leave as is (he should know the days of the week right?)...suggestions I could really use! Here is a pic of the project:

Mine won't have the tabs and such...we're going a bit easier here...if he doesn't know which order the months are in by now... ;) So what should I do about the binding on the top???

Here is a sample of what my January page looks like...all the other pages are formatted the same...

Also...it calls for 6x12" chipboard...I went to Archivers and the Scrapbook Page and they didn't have it. Scrapbook Page had really really really heavy weight cardboard in 12x12"...but they didn't think it would score and bend right. So now what do I use for 6x12" chipboard?? What will be strong enough to keep it's shape all year but not too heavy to cut and bend?

I would probably shrink the calendar down a little, to leave more room at the top.

As for the chipboard, I'd probably use a cereal box or something like that. Just paint the printed part a neutral color. I assume you're using it to make a stand? I would use a brad to hold the stand together. If you do that and make the stand big enough, at the end of the year you could undo the brads and fold the stand around the calendar, and then use the brads to close it up like a little book (if you wanted to keep it at the end of next year).

hadn't even thought about keeping it later...and yes I am using it to make a stand...thanks for the suggestions!

Sharon,
Love that project! Haven't seen the book, but your January calendar looks cute. You should be able to shrink it without warping it, or just slide it down a bit toward the bottom (it looks like tere is room).

Col has great ideas doesn't she? Being new at hybrid, I'd have never thought of using a cereal box! :)

Be sure to show us the finished product!

I agree with Col, I'd try to make more room at the top, either by moving it down or resizing it a bit smaller.

I also save cardboard from backs of notebooks, the pieces of cardboard that come in new sheets etc. I even used a box for this album

Thanks for the hints ladies! You know...I'm new at this so I appreciate it. I just looked and I have a Cheerios box from Sam's Club...it's longer than 12" and wider than 6" so I can use that! Guess I better save the other sides for my next project ... whatever it might be.

dh is back to work today so I am going to try to finish all the decorating...and then adjusting to fit the project. HOPING I can get it printed today and assembled tomorrow...and then I will post a picture.

Did I tell you I made Stacy (pewtertm) a perpetual calendar for Christmas? I forgot to take a picture of the finished project...hopefully she will post one.
