Pennant banner help!

OK ladies who have made an adorable hybrid pennant banner thingy...I need some help!!! I'm wanting to make one for my DS's room...but I'm just not sure how big to make my triangles.

It's going to be strung across six 8x10 photo frames (approximately a 5 foot wall) and I'm gonna start it on the corner of frame 1...drape it....attach it between frame 3 &4....drape it again.....attach to the last frame, frame 6.

Is this a good shape for the triangle?

What do you think would be a good triangle size, maybe 4x4 or 5x5....do you think those would be too big? Definitely before I put too much work into it I'll print a "rough draft" out of a few sizes and test them against the frames...but I definitely was y'alls opinions!!

Well to be honest, I've only used template shapes and didn't give it much thought for sizing... Are you going to be building up each triangle with letters/rosettes, etc? Are you going for more of a sports theme? Those pennats are usually longer triangles... otherwise I think this looks like a good shape. I think for a wall, you will want bigger than smaller - so I guess I would go with the 5x5 or what every size I can get two per piece of paper... I'm cheap like that. :D If once you print out and it find it too small... remember you can always make them look bigger by matting it with card stock or ripple cardboard... I've done that. ;)

yeah, I don't think I was much help...

Take some paper you have lying around, and hang up some different sizes. then you'll have an idea of what size you want and will look best in the given space.

totally more organized than me... I would have taken my 8.5x11 paper and cut across the diagonal... for mine I used a template though.

I'm with Colleen too! No reason to do all that work and then have it be too big or too small. Make a sample out of scrap paper, newspaper, whatever you have lying around.

I think the shape looks great - can't wait to see the finished project!!! Let us know anything you learn along the way - I'm making one of these for my sister's bridal shower and love tips!

Oh thanks for all the tips girls!!! I think I will just make a "fake banner" out of paper and yarn (my kids bring home so much scrap paper) and not only will I be able to justdge the size I want, I'll also see how it will "hang"....I might not want it to have a double "swag"...I might just want to make it a little shorter and only have it swag once!! I think I'll work on it while the boys sleep today!!

Oh and Juli I'll definitly share photos!!!
