Sharp things

I am totally fed up with my craft scissors getting blunt sooo quickly. Does anyone sharpen theirs? If you do, do you just use a normal kitchen sharpener?

Does anyone have a favourite scissor make/ type they would recommend, that can withstand cutting card and paper (the more precise the better)?

Hope you can help!!! :)

My son has a knife/scissor sharpener kit and he sharpens mine for me. I just bought regular craft type scissors from walmart and have only had him sharpen them once. I use them for all kinds of stuff as do the kids and my husband (he is the worst on scissors, uses them for everything in the world)

ive heard the cutterbee's are supposed to be awesome though!! Pricey but awesome LOL

Sara - I rarely use actual scissors unless it's something big and STRAIGHT that I'm cutting! (and I use Stampin' Up Paper Snips for that), mostly I use a hobby knife / exacto knife / craft blade / whatever. I use a Cutterbee retractable knife thing. It was about $15 and came with 5 extra blades. I use it ALL the time (like daily) and usually replace my blade about once a month. You can buy another pack of 5 replacement blades for about $6 I think. (and those are Maui prices...I'm sure it's cheaper elsewhere).

I swear by my CutterBee xacto knife and CutterBee scissors.

The knife blade refills aren't too expensive - and they are super sharp/thin for a precise cut.

The scissors are some of the most pointy/sharp scissors I've seen. I've had mine quite awhile, and use them for EVERY hybrid project I do - and they are still as sharp and pointy as ever. The point is very small, which is perfect for getting in tight spaces and making tiny holes in paper.

I give them both a  - very much worth the price tag!

Thank you so much for the information, ladies - I am definitely going to invest in the Cutterbee scissors and almost certainly the knife too (I currently use scalpel-like disposables for the very fiddly pieces, but they are a bit too scary sharp to use!).

Ditto what everyone said about the Cutterbee retractable knife. I ♥ mine. I use it almost daily for something or other!

I've got my eyes on the scissors now...seems like I might need those too!

I didn't know there was a Cutterbee retractable knife!!! I LOVE my cutterbee scissors (umm, slightly obsessed actually). Now I'll have to go on a hunt for the knife... Greeeeeeeeeat... lol!

I've just got my CutterBee scissors - and I am in love with them!!!! Thank you for the recommendation, you were all sooooo right.

Now I just need to find a stockist for the knife (or may be get my aunt to send me one!!).
