Stickers

Do any of you gals have the xyron sticker makers? This is another item I am thinking of getting. What are your suggestions? Also, I thought I read somewhere that someone just gets the refills and cut off what they need, press their item on to it and it is the same as using the machine without the machine. Is that possible? Thanks!

I used to use the X when I was still paper crafting and loved it for small items. I never used the big ones because I had a 3M ATG gun that I adored.

I never did do full-sheet adhering unless it was with a modge podge type of glue, but if you want that, a Zyron is definitely a good way to go.

it's on my list of things I'd love to have... a small one since I would only use it for card making type stuff and not big layouts

I have the sticker maker and the 5in and used them all the time when I was paper scrapping... but haven't used it since going hybrid. With the adhesive runners on the market, I can cover it better than running it through the sticker maker and a lot less waste (the adhesive that is around the item with the xyron)... plus I'm so uncoordinated (and cheap) that my items would be overlapping. :D Not a problem when using the adhesive, but a bit annoying when using the laminated or the magnetic papers. LOL!!

I had the little X sticker thing. I didn't like it. The adhesive always got on the edges and top of things somehow, and I just didn't like it. I have the Cheetah, somewhere, lol.

For a while now I pretty much just use a tape runner (jonesing for an ATG gun), foam dimensionals, or Mod Podge.

I had the little X one and the big one and threw them both out as they were too gimicky and naff and like Col I hated the bits of glue that got on the edges.

thanks gals, you saved me some money. I have new ATG gun and I am really liking it, but i thought for small things it may be a good thing, but I guess not. Thanks for all the input.

cheaper

If you have a Tuesday Mornings around you check there. Mine has some and they are a LOT cheaper than anywhere else. For that price, it's a good deal if you get some use out of it.

I had one when I exclusively paper scrapped and I'll be honest, I didn't really like it. It didn't do any better than just glueing or sticking things down, and the sticky part always got on the edges and then my pages would stick together and such.

Hmmm... I have two :D One is Xyron 500 for one-sided stickers and later I bought the 510 machine for double-sided stuff (lamination/sticker, magnet).

Yes, it's true that it leaves bits of glue here adn there on the edges, but they can be easily removed.

I have never got to try the laminating/magent cartridge, hopefully I will be able to do something during holidays.

I use the sticker Xyron a lot, I prefer it instead of glue as it never makes the paper wet / wavy.

I still haven't figured out my ATG gun, but from what I read here I defnitely should.

I like Xyron, but not for the purposes of card-making - makes nice stickers and magnets, but I, too am frustrated with the glue at the edges.

And I have to yet find a glue that doesn't make paper wavy...

Thanks for giving me impetus to look at the ATG thing.
