Support Group to catch up on PL?

Sadly, I don't have anything to report on my PL Albums. I am still sending myself an email a day with something I want to include in my PL pages
ie
something funny the kids said
a feeling
recognizing a job well done
an email from a teacher

Hopefully you have been more successful than I have!

I've been working hard on finishing up last years album but am already behind on this years. Editing pictures is the bane of my existence. lol.

I kept wanting to start it, but then I would forget to take pics or why I took them and no journaling. Just spiraled down. Last month, I bought a Happy Planner on clearance. Just pulled it out yesterday. ugh. but I'm using it to write down daily stuff.

I did do a few March pages from 2013 and one week this year February. Better than nothing.

OMG! I get those weekly, sometimes a few day, mostly for missing assignments (my younger boys hate turning in homework for some reason. The homework done - just don't want to get up & put in the tray.)

I love the look of planners and would love to start one but I don't want to start another unfinished project or put another thing on my to do list. Maybe some day.;)

I really wanted to go back to weekly pages this year, but {sigh} February is almost done & I've only done week 1, so looks like that's not happening. I just feel like life is so not photo worthy and I forget to take pics in the "everyday" moments.

There's something about PL pages--I HAVE to do them in order even though with my other pages I skip around. So here we are in late Feb. and I'm just finishing week 1 because I had some 2016 pages left to do. I've been taking photos and making journaling notes, so I'm not that worried about catching up for 2017. At least not for PL...it's my other pages that are going to be the issue.

I feel like I still have so much left to finish for 2016 before I move on to 2017. I do much better scrapping January through early fall, then I give up on the end of the year so I don't fall too far behind the next year. I tell myself that I'll get back and finish the year "someday," but that kind of thinking is why my DD's late-December birthday is probably our family's least scrapped annual event. [insert very embarrassed blushing smiley here] I think I need to quit my job and scrap all day to catch up. Oh well, it's good to have goals!

Weekend Goal- Get 1 week complete!
Who is with me??

Post them here when you get them done :)
We have company this weekend so I'm probably not scrapping. I'll try to play along after they leave. I'm halfway through week 2 right now, so my goal will be to finish 2 and 3.

I'm thinking I might need to go back to albums for 2017. I tried doing 2016 as photobooks, but it's too hard to get the entire year scrapped in a reasonable amount of time. (Goal was to print July to December by the end of this month, but I'm not even close. My PL pages are done, but I have too many non-PL layouts left to do.) Much as I love the look and compactness of the photobooks, I need the freedom to move on to the current year instead of getting further and further behind.

I'm currently obsessing about getting three old vacation albums done. I think that PL isn't for me right now. I'd be too stressed.

I recently completed a Tahoe Vacation Album...I was like a mad woman trying to get it done! I have several more Vacation Albums to complete but I think I need a change in subject. Good Luck!

I love the compactness of photo books too!!

I am pleased to read I am not the only one behind.
Last year I was doing my pages monthly and only got January and February completed then life got a little crazy with busy things ( not bad things) and this year I am doing weekly pages and am not too far behind... just two weeks to do to catch up.
then to finish off last year I decided to change the format of what I was doing so have only completed January so far.

I have actually spent my weekend working on PL catch up!

I'm using Cindy's Universal Album: All Year Long for the second half of last year, and I have all the photos placed in the pages. This weekend I completed July.

For 2017, I'm using Misty's Words & PIctures Templates, and I went through and picked my templates for each week and plugged in my photos. I also updated my title page:

And I'm still working!

I'm in early February for this year and trying to get caught up a bit more today. I didn't even do an album for 2016 and will try to get back to finish 2015 one of these days.

I'm still trying to finish 2016.

2014 and 2015 i did a weekly spread, both finished and printed in book, but for 2016 i still have to do at least 15 pages before it's done.

Want to do 2017 as well, but not started yet, shame on me. I think this will be monthly as well. I noticed that i started making less photo;s and enjoying the moment itself without being behind the camera.

did this page today from July

LOL I'm so jealous of you, I am WAY behind. I have a book for 2014, one for 2011 - but nothing in between! I started with 2013 now, but I can only do it in a few spare moments. I wish I had more time to!

I love everyone's pages! I'm only through week 4 for 2017 so far. :( I feel like I take 1 step forward and 2 steps back constantly with this project. I love the final pages, but my own Type A need to finish one thing before I start another keeps getting in my way. I've finished my 2016 PL pages, but I still have about 30 "traditional" digi pages to go. That may not sound like a lot, but it's 2-3 months of scrapping for me. I can't print 2016 until I finish, so I'm obsessing over that and ignoring 2017. *Sigh* I'm taking pictures and jotting down lots of notes for 2017, so I'll get it done eventually. The problem is that it will be August 2018 by the time I do!

I've found that as long as I do my PL pages and print those in a book I have the memories down on paper and printed so I can go back later and make albums for my kids about them with my traditional pages. The small, every day moments are more important to get done for me, otherwise they become lost in the more eventfull memories and won't be scrapped. So far I've had success with keeping on time with my weekly pages, the journaling is missing, but written down in my journal so I have it, just need to get it in there. Then I use the bingo promts to scrap my traditional pages when I find one that fits.

I was going for a cleaner and easier style this year, but the embellishments and clusters still sneak in and I just can't seem to leave them out. Love all my pages though and that's what matters, even if they take a bit longer to finish.

2017 is my 5th year of PL. Every year I make grand goals to simplify my pages and embellish less (or not at all), and every year I add embellishments anyway! The little changes I've succeeded in making each year add up to a noticeable difference over time, but I still embellish and cluster, too. So far the 4 2017 pages I've done are cards, photos, and words only. But that's why all 4 of them are still sitting as psd files. No matter what I tell myself, I know I'm going to cave and go back and embellish!

I am making a good dent in 2016 today!! All journaling has been plugged in to templates. Next up is the photos.

Anyone else working on their PL albums?

oh man! I am SO far behind! I wish I had a week to do nothing but work on my PL album! Or any of the other scrap projects on my to do list!

Me, too! I stalled at Week 18, but at least I managed to spend some time this weekend getting photos organized for my next few pages. I just finished and ordered a photobook with 4 months of 2016 in it, so that's got me motivated to keep going on 2017.

I would love some opinions...
I started my PL 2017 book in the beginning of the year. I was caught up until the beginning of May. I have had some personal problems and didn't scrap (or take pictures) for 3 to 4 months.
My life is a little easier right now and I'm scrapping again.
So here's my dilemma... should I finish my 2017 album even though I'm missing 3 to 4 months? Or should I wait until January and start fresh?

If I decide to finish 2017, what do I do with the missing months? I don't feel like scrapping about everything that happened in those months. So I'm not sure what to do.

Looking back on the first 4 months of 2017 is hard as well, but I would like a 2017 album.

Sarah, I would definitely do a 2017 album. You might want to put a page in about the missing months so that you know you left them out on purpose (or a marker page stating "better days ahead" or something). It took me over four years to finish my 2012 album, so the journaling wasn't what it could have been, but oh well. I'm glad to have that album.

Thank you for your feedback Lynn. I appreciate it.
I think I will regret it, if I don't finish my album.
But looking back on the past year hurts, so I got to get over that.

You don't have to do it now. You can wait until the sting has faded a bit, until you're ready to face those memories. You could also just change your pages to reflect the things you DO want to remember for now. I would hate having a huge gap in my books. I am only now going back and scrapping 2003, because those memories were painful for me for a long time. But now I realize that there were lots of good things I do want to remember and celebrate. Give yourself time to heal, and don't worry about finishing it now. I'm sorry you've had a rough time and hope and pray that things are better now.

I would continue your 2017 and maybe one day you will realize what you want to do about those missing months.

Don't stop--it sounds like you'd regret it later. If you feel like the current weeks are easier to deal with, then start here and work forward.

You don't need to decide right now how you want to handle the missing months. In fact, if you usually print single pages that go in an album, you can leave out all mention of those months when you print and deal with it (whether scrapping it or deciding not to) when you feel ready. If it were me and I was printing as a photobook that couldn't be changed later, I think I'd scrap a single page with a few summer photos that aren't painful and journal, "It was a difficult summer; I'm ready for fall!" Then move straight into fall pages.
