Where do you get your "chipboard"?

Do you BUY chipboard for projects or do you recycle and from what?

I'm not having luck locally...either it is a cut out chipboard album (such as Maya...but not finding Maya locally) or it is bind-it-all album stuff...but nothing else. I found a HUGE HUGE amount of heavy heavy (did I mention it was heavy?) cardboard that was 12x12" and some other odd sizes...but I think it is too heavy for even the new bind-it-all to cut through. Would appreciate some insight.

From...the girl who said she would not go hybrid because she didn't have her scrapbooks caught up.... :p
 
I've never bought plain sheets of chipboard. I save the sheets that come with paper packs, the backs of notepad, packaging from scrap stuff. I know lots of people recycle cereal boxes and similar boxes like that. I'm sure once I get my bind-it-all I'll have more use for plain sheets, but right now I really don't. My LSS wanted like $0.80 for a sheet, which is a total ripoff. And the ebay listings I've found were for WAY more sheets that I would want or need.
 
i bought a package at my LSS for like $3.99. it was a big 12x12 piece and a few smaller rectangles. i used it for my advent calendar. i have no idea what i'm going to do with the rest of it yet, lol.
 
I get mine at Dick Blick. (I'm also a big saver of scraps from paper pads and packaging etc. )
 
I get mine at my LSS, the last time I bought some it was only 5 cents per 12x12 sheet. They don't keep it out on the shelves anywhere, I had to ask for it and it was kept behind the counter so if you have any LSS's in your area you might ask them if they have any even if you don't see it out on the shelf.

I've also seen different packages & sizes of chipboard in some craft stores & online, the brand is Grafix I think.
 
5 cents a sheet??? Thats awesome! They must be the ones that come with the patterned papers or something that they would normally throw out... any packaged ones I've seen at my LSS is a lot more than that!!

But yah, I do a lot of saving thick cardboard/chipboard from packages & whatnot. Its free, lol!

Okay...my background...I started scrapbooking 16 years ago...a Creative Memories person originally...so I have the AFLF (Acid Free Lignin Free) on the brain...is the chipboard AFLF or is it just random stuff that probably isn't "archival"? I don't really care on dh's desk calendar as he can just toss it at the end of the year.

Do you think people will want to see some of my other pages? Most of them are SSD kits I used to decorate it with. A few I used other kits I had because it was holidays before I joined the SSD addiction (like Easter).
 
I think that Stampin'Up has chipboard sheets, pieces and some albums that are AFLF. Here is a link to my friend's SU blog. Her e-mail is on it and she anwsers e-mail really quickly. She also has great ideas.

Also, I saw some chipboard items(albums, pieces) on the Oriental Trading Company. I did not notice if they are AFLF though. Just a hint. If you sinn up for their mailinglist, you will get free shipping and discounts regularly.

FYI -
I just did a Google search...
Barnes&Noble.com carries some of the Grafix chipboard. The shipping rates are good, and if you're a member, the price is lower than other sites.
