I'm following jim cantore and the weather channel on twitter and they said it was going to miss joplin by 4 miles but that there was a 2nd system behind it, hopefully that one will miss them as well.

I haven't heard from my cousin yet. We need to keep Darcy in our prayers though. There is a storm headed her way.

I think I am going to get a Tshirt made that says Tornadoes suck. I am seriously sick to my stomach worrying over everyone. There is also a toddler that is missing in one of our effected areas. A 3 year old that was ripped out of the mom's arms during the tornado! Mom and two siblings are in hospital and there is no sign of the 3 year old. I can't even imagine! I really need to stop watching the news but I can't seem to do it.

The tornado near Joplin tonight stayed away from populated areas, and ended up going 4 miles outside the town. Hopefully everyone's okay from it.

power is flickering here sigh.. we have about 60 mph winds, i just went out to move my car away from under the tree that's leaning after the weekend storms and was literally knocked to my knees by the wind

I love my car. LOL I waited until there was a lull in the rain. Wasn't exactly counting on the wind.

Ugh! I am just worried sick about everyone and all these storms. The terrible stories of missing children, close calls, the rising death toll... All so close to home literally and figuratively! Makes me sick to think this could very well be me and my family or any one of my family and friends. So sad!! We are lucky tonight and most likely not getting all the severe weather they predicted but still... You just never know

My nerves are shot!! I was talking to my sister as she went down into her basement, then we got disconnected. My mom and one sister are on the north end of Joplin...so glad it went further north! Looks like they are down to a tornado watch. I sure hope my mom made it safely up and down her basement stairs - she's almost 90 and it freaks me out!

Glad to hear everyone else has stayed safe! Very rough night!

If it stayed out of town then all my family should be safe. I am sure people are having a hard time using phones there due to all the towers being down and phone traffic.

I have heard from another family member via FB that said they were in the clear and he is near Joplin.
