What was something you tried once

I used to love that spinny carnival ride at a teen n young adult... but the last time I tried it (right around age 30) I spent the next few hours trying not to be sick.

No Sushi for me (not that I'm even allowed raw fish right now...lol... yuck) but I love cooked fish!
No energy drink...ick
No cold regular coffee .... I'll do a fancy cold one with lots of sugar occasionally
Not a fan of asian pairs.... we had a neighbor give us a case for helping her shovel snow, and the texture was not quite an apple or pear but lacked the flavor of apples or pears.... no one I shared them with liked them.

SO. MANY. THINGS.

I've always told my kids that they need to try a new food or activity at least once before they can say that they don't like it, same for my preschool class, so in fairness, I always try new things with them. :ROFLMAO:

Having a baby. lol I said I was a one and done and I stayed with that.
I am trying to think of others things and coming up short. Not sure what else I have done once and won't do again.

Coffee. Tried it once in college and never again. Back in those days it was a joke that teacher's lived on coffee and my cousin and I both hated it and were majoring in education. She did end up teaching, retiring with over 30 years (never drinking coffee though). I got the degree and ended up going a different direction in my career. It was easy to transition to accounting since I had a degree in business education which included accounting classes.

As for beets, love them when they are pickled. I've sometimes snacked on them during the day since I retired.

I am laughing while reading this thread.... and I am struggling to think of something at the moment.... but I just want to say to @Rubia Padilha that I LOVE BEETS! <3

-ziplining - had a very bad experience my first time and am a bit traumatized lol
-rollercoasters - I don't feel safe
-any beer ever made is nasty
-cilantro tastes like soap
-wasabi or any hot sauce - just don't like it

I'm wired a bit differently, haha, so:
Some Rollercoasters, like The Flying Dutchman in Efteling Theme Park, tried it once... not my cup of tea. The rollercoasters, George and the Dragon, Vogelrok and Max & Moritz at said Theme Park, no problem.
Heights... same thing. I have a problem with some heights. A stepladder can already be nerve-wracking, while on the other hand, I can climb from one balcony to the other on the 2nd floor. 🤪(I really did that once)

Liver. I tried it once, and will never eat it again. Even the smell of cooking liver makes me sick. It's the one meal my Mom never argued about me having to eat as a child; she'd cook it for Dad and let me have a PB&J.

"Dinosaur" ribs. Not because I didn't like them but they're just MASSIVE (and are priced accordingly). Google says a raw rib - just one - is between 1.5 and 3 lbs before cooking 😅 I'm not sure I finished the one rib I started
'dinosaur ribs'? What animals do those actually come from?

No snails, eels and crayfish for me please. Yuck.
No energy drinks either.
Love sushi, but hate wasabi.

Ice skating. I was excited to get the chance to try it during high school, but then I had a panic attack within 5 minutes on the ice. The trauma of breaking my elbow when I was 6 was kicking in and I trembled so badly I could not even stand while holding onto the fence.
Those panic attacks are no laughing matter!

Dubai chocolate
Black olives
Oysters - just thinking about the slime makes me heave
Boba
Black licorice
Also a beet hater

Public pools
Hot tubs
I nibbled one piece of the dubai choclate and hated it - meanwhile hubby loved it!
But I love black olives. Great salty snack instead of chips.
And ya, yuck on slime things.
Package black licorice in a candy shell of pinkish & white, all it good & plenty, and I could eat it all day but should not!

Height phobias sure can be weird. I can look out from a high floor but can barely look down over a bannister from my second floor to first floor. Even heights on TV get me.

Funny story re proof of my dislike of beets. My mother used to cook a borscht soup recipe when I was young that had beets in it. I hated that soup and would not eat it. Then she switched to another recipe that had no beets and I cook and enjoy it to this day!

Liver. I tried it once, and will never eat it again. Even the smell of cooking liver makes me sick. It's the one meal my Mom never argued about me having to eat as a child; she'd cook it for Dad and let me have a PB&J.
I'm with you on the liver thing - it has vein holes. Big hard no. I refused to eat it. My mom also made this horrible dish with chicken livers, green peppers, and mushroom soup - I begged off that one as much as I could too.

I tried escargot at a fancy-ish restaurant on the night of my high school graduation. Couldn't get myself to bite down on that sluggy thing and couldn't swallow it. Ugh. Never ordered that again.

Sometime in high school (11th or 12 grade?) I tried water skiing. You have to know that I've had a healthy fear of water (especially salt water) since I was a young child who went to see Jaws with my family at the big drive up movie screen. Well, living in a coastal town and having a dock on salt water didn't take that fear away.

Anyway...I went with my friends to go skiing. Not at a lake...in the marshy salt/brackish rivers around the Savannah area. It was my turn. I had the life jacket on and was out there bobbing in the water. All alone. Just me in the water. Holding onto the tow line. Wondering WHEN they were going to start GOING so I could TRY to stand up and ski. Bobbing along. Waiting. Waiting. Thinking about just how many sharks might be swimming below me. KNOWING that sharks DID actually swim in those waters since I would go with my brother fishing for them. (And catching/eating them.) Waiting. Starting to panic. Forget it! I started pulling myself back to the boat by that rope. There was some engine trouble, apparently. Well, never again for me. That was my one shot and I wasn't going back in that water by myself. EVER. lol
🦈 😨 🦈

Ohhh... I thought of something. Downhill skiing. Tried it once in college and spent more time on my butt than on my feet. I am terrified of heights so that doesn't help either. Waterskiing.... I would do that all day long. Even cross country skiing. But downhill.... NO THANK YOU.

Waxing couldn't even finish my calf but I do have Ehlers maybe that's why
I'm not waxing unless my husband waxes the same areas - therefore, I'm not waxing. LOL (Sorry about the ED - I know it is one of these often invisible conditions, so hard to diagnose, and continues to add unwanted difficult symptoms and mysteries in your life - seems like I know more and more people with it including my niece and a SIL)

Eggplant - I've tried it twice since I know people who love it. Just a no from me.
Raw meat - that includes sushi, poke and rare steaks. It's the texture - ick
Really ripe bananas - can't eat them, they make me gag between the strong smell and mushy texture. just turned yellow ones with maybe a few brown spots are fine.
Heights are getting to be more of a problem. I don't like sitting up at spots and not moving, but can handle them better if I'm 'just passing through'. So most roller coasters are OK (not all), and ferris wheels are a no because you end up sitting up there hanging out and I start to panic.
Beer and most alcohol
Tried water skiing once. Not doing that again.
I used to downhill ski in high school. I've since gotten over the desire to hurl myself down a mountain on two pieces of wood.

I do like beets, black licorice, coffee, and liver LOL

Expedition Everest!!
The first time we went to Disney World for my daughter's birthday celebration, we went and ride that yeti. My daughter was 6 years old at that time, and boy the two of us were traumatized. My daughter has never ridden any roller coaster ever since, and I swear I will never ride any as well. And sometimes when I see things that reminds me of it, I feel chills. 😱😱
